USB 2.0 port not working

Hi

I have a 3.5" inch hard disk enclosure. The usb port has stopped working. Now only firewire port is working(confirmed this on another laptop)

I do not have firewire port cable.

How can I fix the usb port so that I can use the enclosure again.

So the USB connection isn't working for both computers?

You could try opening the enclosure up and looking for lose wires but you might need to replace the enclosure.

Hi

thanks for the response. The USB port of the enclosure is not working. All the USB port of computer are working. I can attach usb pens and see them in the windows explorer

I was just hoping that there might be something else I could do other than change the enclosure.

I had the same problem on an enclosure. Took it apart thinking it was a loose solder joint but testing the joints showed that that wasnt the case. I think the enclosure usb controller chip just up and died. Had to use the firewire port which is still working.
