I'm looking for an mp3 player that will transfer music fast and is small. I have used my friend's muvo for a while and the size is wonderful, but it just transfers too slowly for me. I want to hook it up, get some random songs and get the hell away from my desk. When are manufacturers going to make faster mp3 players, and if they already have, what are they and where can i get one!?

Um, what?

The point of USB2 or 1394 on a device with anything less than a gig of storage is redundant. Most solid-state players either use internal memory (32MB) or use a CF card, which has limited write speed anyhow.

Wait, so USB2 won't be faster with internal flash memory? the memory isn't fast enough?

No.

The flash memory in most flash based players typically has a max write speed of around 600KB/sec. USB 1.0 can transfer about 1.5MB/sec. So going USB 2.0 is pointless.

Now some players that use compact flash cards may benefit. Some modern compact flash cards have 2MB+/sec write speeds, so going USB 2.0 would allow you to take advantage of the card's full speed.

Where'd you get that? USB1 or 1.1 is 12Mbps (BTW capital M = Mega small b = bits [caps B = Bytes]) 12/8 = 1.5MBps MAX. USB2 is 480Mbps or 60MBps MAX. (FW400 = 400Mbps = 50MBps FW800 = 800 Mbps = 100MBps)

Get a NetMD they're fast loading.
