Review @ ArsTechnica

Basically, I've upgraded from a USB1.1 128mb flash drive to a SanDisk Cruzer Micro USB 2.0 512mb drive.

I've not used it much, but the write speed seems much slower than what I expected. I've tried copying over about 80mb of MP3's, and I'm getting an average of 1MB/s for the write speed. However, the read speed is much, much faster and seems in line with USB 2.0.

According to the ArsTech benchmarks, I was expecting something like 3 or 4MB/s for writing.

For those with USB 2.0 flash drives, what kind of writing speeds are you getting?

It's entirely possible that the Flash chip SanDisk is using for the 512MB Mini-Cruzer is slower than the 128MB chip used in Ars' tests(speed vs. size), hence the speed difference you're seeing.

Well, that sucks :|

I just tried a comparison to my old USB1.1 128mb drive, and the write speeds are essentially the same. The read speed is much faster with the USB2.0 512mb drive, but I'm kinda disappointed in the write speed.
