Something with a description like "VANTEC Nexstar 3 NST-360U2-RD Aluminum 3.5" USB2.0 External Enclosure - Retail ". I know this is an external enclosure for a HDD what I want.

My question it accepts an IDE drive?? not a SATA drive right???

I would more than welcome a link. I have googled it but 🙁

What are the basics of these???

Thanks

😱

Sorry I noticed that IDE vs. SATA after talking to someone the next day. I am on my way...

uhhhhhh hey op, you should know that the drive gets kinda hot if you leave it on too long. I have one but changed it to a lappy hard drive with 3.5 install kit. The drive was getting a tad bit too hot for me to be comfortable with leaving on 24/7.

I would personally find one with a quiet large fan on the base thats a tad big bigger.

That's why I like 5 1/4" enclosures with fans. Even though the fans are small, the air space around the HD allows for good flow.

Great suggestion Blain....

With the NexStar2 NST-525UF you get...
* USB 2.0 or Firewire 1394a connections
* No external AC adapter required
* A 40MM fan for ventilation
* Plenty of space for air flow in the 5 1/4" enclosure
