USB 2.0 detected as 1.1

I have a MSI K9N Platinum AM2 motherboard and it?s been absolutely perfect except for the small USB glitch. Whenever I plug in a USB 2.0 device, I get a message in Windows saying that the ?device will perform faster if plugged into a high-speed port.? My mobo has 4 USB 2.0 Ports on it physically, and I have 4 more on my case from the USB 2.0 Headers. So why are my devices not being properly detected?

Here is a picture of the message:

I have the newest nForce 9.16 drivers for my nForce 570 chipset and Windows XP Professional SP2.

EDIT: Tried transferring a 200mb .iso file and it took just under 4 minutes. That seems well short of the 15mb/sec advertised write speed on my 1 GB OCZ Rally2 drive.

Just tested transfer speeds: 200mb iso transferred in about 4 minutes...so about 50 mb/minute...does that seem right for USB 2.0?

And Yes, Amos, this is what I get when I click the bubble:

When you say you plug into your motherboard, does that mean you plug into the back or do you use a USB head on your case from the front? Check the bios for USB 2.0 options.

I tried ports on the back of my mobo as well as the USB ports on my Dell 1905FP. Both gave about the same speeds. I have the USB 2.0 Controller enabled in BIOS (it?s on by default).

I had this exact problem when I accidently installed Win98 USB 1.1 drivers. I uninstalled all usb controllers in device manager and rebooted. WinXP reinstalled the correct usb drivers and the problem was solved.

Maybe this will work for you.

One more thing...will WinXP Device Manager automatically reinstall the correct drivers if I remove the USB-related stuff from device manager? MSI forum ppl said to do this also
