USB 1 or 2

Morning AT, does anyone know how to tell the difference between USB 1 and USB 2 cables? Is there any physical difference or do you just have to plug them in and see if they work? Are the connectors the same? Since they are supposed to be backward compatible, I would think they would have to be. The reason I am asking is because I have two USB cables, one black and one silver and I don't know it they are both the same or not.

There is no visible difference. It is a matter of quality.

USB 1.1 cables were way over engineered, so there is absolutely NO difference. There are a couple of reasons why USB 2.0 signalling speeds are below 500 MHz: cost of validation & foreward compatibility of forward USB 1.1 cables.
