I don't think any exception to the rules need to be made regarding this. IF you wish to donate, do so by going to the red cross directly, or donate at http://www.amazon.com. Don't give your money to someone who promises that they'll donate something.

What's wrong with raising money for The Red Cross? I didn't buy one but I figured many of you might want to. JMHO

it's an auction... we're not supposed to post auctions.... besides, zaku is right, why buy this rather than donate money directly to the red cross? you don't have to pay the people for the cost of making the shirts or anything if you do it that way

Too many scams popping up. No way to prove where this money is going.

Over the last 2 days, I've heard on NUMEROUS occasions that there have been all kinds of scams popping up, trying to get money out of individuals, all in the name of charity. Because of this, government officials asked that anyone who wants to donate money should go DIRECTLY to the charitable organization rather than someone who promises to give the funds to the organization.

You should realize that there are too many people out there trying to gain money for the Red Cross who are not legit. I'm not saying this isn't legit, but at a time like this it is not right to promote anything other than giving directly to the Red Cross.

People are sick and do sick things. We cannot be sure these people are going to give the money to Red Cross. By giving directly, you know the money is going directly to the cause.

If you are sending money to the RedCross, then this is a noble sale. If you are scamming us, then you deserve to be prosecuted with those telemarketers in New York soliciting donations.
