I honestly can't tell if this is real or not but it's very amusing. We often hear that the propaganda in North Korea is off the wall and that integrating them will be difficult. Does the leadership over there believe this as well? Do Generals believe that North Korea invented the internet and put men on the moon? If you look at the wikipedia page their propaganda sounds mostly like what the USSR had so do the people there have a sense of how the world really works or not?

I've seen old Soviet propaganda but it was mostly praising Stalin and go team USSR. Has North Korea taken it to a whole new level?

I hope it's true, the North Korean people don't seem to have a lot going for them, perhaps by believing the US is a poverty stricken hell hole they'll feel a little better about their lot in life.

I don't know whether to agree with the boggling, inhumane brainwashed bubble of North Korea or to tell people they should worry more about the people in bubbles here.

We have plenty of our own lies and propaganda.

Ever hear of something called man-made global climate change? With hundreds of millions poured into hundreds of phony propaganda groups to spread lies people fall for?

I've seen some documentaries about NK and none of that surprises me. They are an entirely insular country, everything is controlled. It's as close to "1984" as a nation has gotten so far. It's truly sad.

What's less excusable is the amount of propagandizing that goes on right here in the US, where people have far less excuse for being misinformed. Unfortunately, one of the reasons propaganda works is because most people, whether they admit it or not, like being propagandized. Meaning.. the techniques are chosen to appeal to the underlying hopes and fears of those targeted.

If you want a perfect example, it's easy. Find a talk radio AM station near you sometime, and listen to Sean Hannity for an hour.

hot snow is pure gold, and so is the "they are yummy" part. Also notice how much they focus on the snow.
Anyway the big difference is that propaganda in the US and other societies with freedom of opinion doesn't work on everyone, it can steer the country if you convince enough people but it's not like the whole country will live in an informative bubble.

Craig your example about global warming doesn't fit because even if we assume it's all propaganda, then they must be failing because the US hasn't signed the CO2 international agreements and it's the most energy and resources consuming society in the world. Just making people believe stuff doesn't matter if it doesn't translate into action.

North Koreans don't actually believe their country is the most prosperous or anything, they actually propagandize far more on their moral superiority.

It doesn't matter what the NK Generals believe or not, as long as the populace does, and you can bet, based on the interviews of North Korean defectors, they do.

I've read quite a few books from and about defectors and the overall impression I got was that they knew their government was lying to them, but they were surprised by just how much it was lying.

It seems there are those that were able to put 2 and 2 together, but others, maybe because they were worried about seeming unpatriotic, defended and believed everything that came out of the government.

Either way, and I know our government is not always truthful, I couldn't imaging living with that regime.

You misunderstood. The propaganda is from the energy companies to get those policies.

This is too hilarious to be real.

North Koreans would rather listen to it and nod, it's better than being shot or sent to a camp.

As for our part, we're heading in their direction - what will stop us from getting there? So long as men want power they'll conjure up reasons for controlling others - and then proceed to do so.

How ironic that an attempt to show North Korea uses propaganda uses propaganda by exaggerating the video.

I grant you that, it really is ironic.

However this video originated on a YouTube channel from what I can tell called north Korean comedy show or something, so obviously it is fake. That it seems plausible is the tragedy here.
