Yes, spending a crapload of resources making things that aren't of any use to Americans is good for the economy. :\

If you really believe this, you simply do not understand what a good economy is.

Weapons-R-US! We don't just use weapons, they're the number one manufactured export of the US. If we didn't have some way to test them in real combat it would cripple the economy and what better way then to declare perpetual war on everyone!

Cruise missiles with an estimated lower range cost of around $60,000.oo are the future. Imagine every petty dictator in the world owning his own cruise missiles, predator drones, etc. and taking out any opposition at the push of a button.

If only we had smart bombs in 1986 like we do today! But really it is the Libyan rebels who will do the fighting on the ground. These air strikes will prevent qaddafi from completely annihilating those rebels.

Yes we are getting involved in a civil war... but on the other hand qaddafi has been a leader we have been after for a long time. And the U.S. is not having to take lead on this one. Level the playing field and let the rebels sort it out afterwards.

So why don't we just sell those missiles instead of use them? Much better use of resources. Sell them at 2 million a pop to Brazil.

when Reagen did it it was ok right?

I can tell reading this forum that a lot of you have trouble staying in the here and now. Rather than face problems head on I often read comments like this which are unimaginative, weak and one dimensional.

That or he's trapped in a debate with an imaginary opponent who conveniently makes strawman arguments.

Brazil doesn't really import a lot of weapons and South Africa sells cheap stealth cruise missiles if they're interested. When it comes to high tech we sell the expensive stuff. However, today's expensive high tech becomes tomorrows bargain basement low tech!

But I agree with you, we need to expand our markets and the world economy going into the dump is an opportunity sent from heaven. That's one of the reason Gaddafi has to go. We've started selling him a few more weapons in recent years, but he's just a loose cannon on deck and we need a more reliable customer to take his place. As it is we already have 40% of the entire market to ourselves with everyone else taking maybe 5%. We just have to be creative about building our customer base.

It is a shame we didn't do this when it could have made a difference.

Now it looks like the best we can do is stop the Libyan offensive and end up with a divided Libya.

But that's a great way to establish a new customer! They've got lots of oil and if they're fighting Gaddafi they know we'll be there with all the weapons they can afford.

The US needs to stay the f*ck out of other countries business in the middle east. If the people of Libya truly want to overthrow their government then it will happen, just as it did in Egypt. The fact that it hasn't happened yet in Libya just means that Khadafi still has plenty of supporters. So who are we to say which side is right, Khadafi's side or the opposition. He has a right to defend his government and the people that support him. Of course the media will portray any aggression on his part as "butchering his people", while the opposition are painted as freedom fighters. Yeah, whatever. Is it our place now to decide who gets to govern any country in the world?

Doing it when it would have made a difference would have required a leader, someone willing to make a tough decision. Unfortunately all we got is a community organizer.

And my question was just a question too. Does that make you butthurt for asking yet another question in response?

I object to the current attack? You make a lot of assumptions.

You still don't get it? You question assumed that I am opposed to this action which is weird. Like I said before, you seem to be having an imaginary debate with someone who has conveniently contradictory positions.

Probably because you don't listen and just make a lot of assumptions. You obviously think I have all the same positions as Rush Limbaugh or something. Probably because you're a hack who doesn't understand that not everyone who disagrees with you is a rabid partisan.

You can't answer any of my questions so you're just labeling me as xenophobic and running away. It is the easier way out. The harder thing to do would be actually to have discussions with posters where you don't make unfair and partisan assumptions. Caio coward. Have fun attacking all those strawmen.
