Usa begins firing tomahawk missiles at Libya

ABC just announced we started launching tomahawk missiles at Libya targeting tanks and other sites. So looks like we now have a 3rd country to fight . Obama said to be commenting soon.

Not unexpected, but I thought we were a day or two away from that. He was given an ultimatum and he refused. Obama already said we won't put troops on the ground. But that does leave open air and missile strikes.

It's already been stated several times that the USA won't really be committing much offensive resources to the fight and won't but personnel on the ground.

IMO, military confrontation in Libya will be the largest foreign policy mistake of the Obama administration. We should have abstained in the security council and refused to commit military resources.

Then i guess you dont think he is going to make any big foreign policy mistakes then.

Thats a bold statement to make when we can look back in 2 years and laugh at you.

You haven't really committed shit, so, what are you getting on about?

Ironically it's the French (and to a limited extent, the Brits) of all people taking the lead on this one.

The French military is much too primitive to take on such an operation as the sole lead.

So in the other thread we had to stop the french from taking Libya for themselves and in this thread they are too primitive to do it alone. God you are retarded.

I guess you dont like Chateau Petrus either.

Why do people always overreact? When we went to war in Iraq the second time around they thought it would be roses in the street. Now they're going to the opposite extreme and saying Libya is going to be a ten-year quagmire. I don't believe Obama's going to commit ground troops. It wouldn't make much sense. Calm down.

LOL @ COW. I think at this point he's just having a breakdown. He really thought Obama was anti-Europe because Obama made a comment about being a Pacific President. He thought Obama was biding his time until he would attack Europe. Now he sees clearly that he was being delusional about Obama and is throwing anything he can against the wall so that his anti-European worldview doesn't all apart.

I have been a big fan of Obama foreign policy and national security positions (save Iraq and Afghanistan) since he started to show how skilled he can be since his administration took over (feel free to search my posts). I do not foresee him doing anything on the same scale of foolishness as Bush.

I really doubt that this will just involve U.S. missile strikes, logistics and intelligence. We will soon start to commit more resources and take up more of the burden, just like many world police actions.

If we continue to go down this path of military intervention, we will start using aircraft to hit enemy AA, fighters, airbases, etc. Then, we will likely start a full embargo, hitting military other installations, supply dumps, fuel depots, and other ground combat units and the units that support them.

Gaddafi will show pictures of innocents (supposedly) killed in American strikes and his propaganda will have a field day. The people will grow to hate us, just like in many countries in which we have intervened.

Pretty soon (if they are not there already), we will have clandestine special operations units operating on the ground to select targets and perform other tasks, a few will inevitably get caught and we will be seen as violating the UN resolution and committing illegal warfare in the eyes of the world. Finally, we might even send a sizable amount of "advisors" and "trainers" to the rebel controlled regions, much like we currently have in Iraq since the official withdrawal.

It's all about moderating their actions and using their resources. God you are retarded.

There are already troops on the ground. These targets don't just magically get selected. Unless you want to believe that it's all done by satellite imagery lol.

If the US prevents the European agenda, then how is that not anti-European?

The European agenda you're fabricating is made up. The real European agenda is basically the same as the US: turn the tide of the civil war against Kadafi. Nobody's buying your nonsense about genocide or what not. Seeing Americans and Europeans allied in arms YET again must be really difficult for you too handle considering your obsession. JStorm nailed it right on the head. You're not even consistent between threads. Pathetic.

What sort of imaginary world do you live in? It's commonly known that the Europeans are concerned over their energy security and migrants, and France has taken a huge PR hit with their previous Foreign Minister. These are not secret goals. They are widely cited among analysts and the media.

Look, I know that your entire motivation here is to celebrate the deaths of non-white people regardless of the activity or agenda. You don't care if Gaddafi stays or goes. You don't care if the rebels win. You just want death.

Those are hardly extreme concerns. The US has similar energy and immigration concerns. The US is working hand in hand with Europeans on this one. Try not to cry about it.

At least someone must work to produce missiles replacing those we fired. Woohoo! Instant job creation right there.

A lot. So does putting up a fighter jet or bomber into the air. Obama should have just let the Europeans handle this one.

Exactly. If Obama is so generous with other people's money, he can send some of it to me. I'll only require 1 million please.
