she doesn't have a right to drive, plus there is a huge gov't interest in issuing identificatory identification. there is very little gov't interest in forcing a muslim to violate her religion in a school that she is forced to go to.

Where is your outrage when it is the Christian faith being denied rights?

It's a Global Liberal homosexual conspiracy against Christians. The Muslims and terrorists are now in league with the conspiracy. You'd better put on your tinfoil hat and fight for your Christian heritage.

It isn't just Christians in Pennsylvania apparently.

From your article.

The state's religious garb prohibition was passed in 1895 and incorporated into the school code when it was established in 1949. It has since been upheld by the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, Coad said.

In that case, a Muslim teacher from Philadelphia - backed by the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission -wanted to wear traditional garb including a head scarf and long, loose dress. The EEOC said that would have been a "reasonable accommodation" of her religious faith, but the appeals court disagreed in 1990, saying "the preservation of religious neutrality (in public schools) is a compelling state interest."

I don't see that as persecution of Christians. I think the Penn law is BS, and they should take it to the USSC.

It doesn't seem to be a crusade against Christianity, but general disregard by states of reasonable accomodations for religious expression. The Justice Department seems to be on the ball however.

This is why I don't trust the states to ensure our civil rights.

Do you realize how stupid your post makes you look? You come up with a stupid conspriacy theory and than say that I should wear a tin-foil hat. I say that you need a basic course in logic and thinking. You haven't displayed either one.

It is interesting that the Pennsylvania case that upheld thier so called religious neutrality law was against a Muslim. Total BS law.

Some idiots have this idea that there cannot be any religion in schools. Christians for the most part are fighting the battle to educate people as to the falseness of this belief. Rather than upholding the first amendment these seperation of church and state people are defying its very purpose. They are prohibiting the free exercise of religion.

Back on topic...

I say let her wear it. I do not see how it is offensive, obstructive, or degrading to her or others.

Well if they let her wear it then they have to take their head covering section out of the dress code. Jews will be wearing yarmulkes etc. No problem there. The problem and inspiration for the dress code is gang symbols etc.
Now any kid would be able to wear whatever hat he wants and he can easily claim it is his religion to do so. After all the congress cannot make any law respecting the establishment of a religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. Even a religion which says you have to wear a NY Yankees cap in school.

Islamic headgear is not essential

The headgear in question has nothing to do with Islam as a religion. It is not sanctioned anywhere in the Koran, the fundamental text of Islam, or the hadith (traditions) attributed to the Prophet.

This headgear was invented in the early 1970s by Mussa Sadr, an Iranian mullah who had won the leadership of the Lebanese Shiite community.

In an interview in 1975 in Beirut, Sadr told this writer that the hijab he had invented was inspired by the headgear of Lebanese Catholic nuns, itself inspired by that of Christian women in classical Western paintings.

Sadr's idea was that, by wearing the headgear, Shiite women would be clearly marked out, and thus spared sexual harassment, and rape, by Yasser Arafat's Palestinian gunmen who at the time controlled southern Lebanon.

You would be happy in Europe with that kind of attitude.
