I did look it up for more information about Hope Solo and I was very surprised that she was only 5'9".

I thought she would be as tall as Gabriel Reece (former famous female volleyball player) or at least 6'. Still, sexy as hell :)

A Swedish-US rematch would be thrilling! US will have to work hard and maintain composure after this win, especially as it is the semi-finals!

I was thinking of the Miracle on Ice, after the US beat the USSR, and before the gold medal game with Finland, Herb Brooks walks into the locker room and says "If you lose this game, you'll take it to your fucking graves" :D

I watched the entire game yesterday...easily one of the best world cup games I've ever seen. Very glad that Brazil didn't get away with its pathetic playacting at the end of the game...#13 Erika being taken off the field on a stretcher then throwing the straps off and running around to the sideline to be put back into the game again was ridiculous.

Yea I was like WTF when she got off the stretcher.

While the header by Abby was simply awesome and very very well done the pass from Rapinoe was more impressive. Those of you who have played soccer can understand how freaking difficult that pass was ... it wasn't a direct cross perse (i.e. a simple horizontal pass from one side to the middle). This pass was down the field AND across.

You may see a lot of passes like this one that land on the ground for a player to run to and then score but you aren't going to see to many go right to the players head.

Lets give Abby additional credit as well, not for finishing, but for getting to the spot and being ready to handle it. That sure as hell is not an easy one to finish either.

My wife and kids and I were listening to this in the car as we were driving my daughter to soccer camp (ironic huh) yesterday afternoon and man the announcers and crowd went apesh*t when it happened (so did we) but to see it via DVR when we got home was even more impressive. Truly awesome.

Red Card/PK deal -- While the rule does state that a Red Card has to be given with foul in the box on an obvious goal scoring attempt I think the call was BS. If you watch the replay Marta did all the work to get the call. BEFORE anything really went down Marta leaps in the air goes spread eagle and lands on her back and on Beuhler. Yes Beuhler had her jersey for all of about 3 seconds but that was a BS call all the way.

The PK retake was also BS -- watch just about every ELITE soccer game and 2 things happen on PKs - (1) Someone enters the box early and (2) the goalie moves off the line too early and you know what -- NO ONE CALLS IT! So they pick yesterday to call it, ridiculous. It is the letter of the law correct but still horrible.

Fake Injury - the fake injury stuff is there and always will be in soccer. I hate it, hate it, hate it. I cannot begin to tell you how irritating that is as a fan and a soccer coach. However that crap by Erika yesterday is the absolute worst I have ever seen. If you watch the slo-mo vids you see her actually look left and right for refs as she walks in front of the goal and rolls to the ground. That is the most blatant fake acting job ever. And of course the miracle stretcher was even more demeaning to the game of soccer. Thank goodness she got a Yellow but still not enough punishment in my mind -- causing your team lose ... priceless!

BTW cudos to the male announcer for speaking his mind about the poor sportsmanship from Brazil and the horrible injury faking. Frankly I am glad he said a few words about it and was clearly happy Brazil lost. I am sure many in the public will chastise him for saying what he was thinking but dammit if a US player did that crap I would expect him to comment on them also.

Great game that will surely be getting aired on ESPN Classic as an Instant Classic right away -- hell ESPN already replayed the game last night at Midnight as well.

I was yelling at the TV that I wish Eric Wynalda was calling the game he'd have a few "choice words"....I don't think they let him on the air anymore, though. ;)

I didn't get to watch it Sunday but I watched the first half last night, the rest this morning including the extra time and PK's, all on my computers at ESPN3.com. Even before the goal that tied it just before extra time I felt that Megan Rapinoe was one of the most if not the most inspired player on the field. Her pass to Wambach was phenomenal -- long and right on the money on a dead run. Wambach's header was perfect but it was made possible by that amazing pass.

I will only be able to watch the remaining games on ESPN3. What I saw last night and this morning was pretty choppy at times. Is there any way to improve that? I have ~2 mbps DSL. Will it be even worse in real time (or close to it)? Or will it be better a few hours later when their servers aren't being hit as hard?

LOL, I was going to post this, but I decided against it :).

I don't think it will look very good below 5Mbps, let alone at 2.
I just did a speed test:

Download: 2.66

Upload: 0.63

I am pretty sure I'm going to switch from ATT (Pacbell.net) to Sonic.net. Only about $4 more/month and probably higher speed. ATT is supposed to be giving me 6 mbps, but it isn't happening. Maybe Sonic can boost things, plus I'll get free domestic calling.

What I saw on ESPN3 today was watchable but I'm used to 720p HD, and that's way way way better, plus I have all the timeshifting amenities (instant configurable FF and REW and pause, all with remote control). But this is better than nothing. My HD is off the air. Near as I can tell watching ESPN3, the only timeshifting I can do is by virtue of dragging the marker on the timeline with my mouse pointer, which is hell of crude!

So, will ESPN3.com bog down during the game (i.e. is it best to wait until later for smooth streaming)? Again, I'm at about 2.66 mbps DSL right now.

I watched it on ESPN 3 and it did fine.

My only problem was related to my browser freezing up every 5 minutes and having to shrink the window from full size then back to full size.

tomorrow I am bring the desk top down stairs and hooking it up to the TV so I can get video AND sound via the TV.

France USA will be starting shortly. No dice on streaming for me, so I'll have to settle with "live analysis".

Pulls or strains don't just magically get better just like that quickly. She JUMPED off the stretcher and ran back onto the field. Suck it faker, you got beat.

Blame Italy, England and Spain for starting and continuing the fake injury thing years ago. FIFA needs to start handing out Reds for them to be honest.
