Question:

You're telling me the law is that the police can check on immigration status, find and illegal, and then are not able to detain them, they have to let them go?!?!!?

This must be wrong...not even Progressives are that F'ing stupid, I just refuse to believe that is the law.

Chuck

correct, the most they can do is alert DHS that they had contact. That's not to say they cannot be detained for commiting a crime, just not solely on the basis of status....

You're telling me that if a cop pulls over a broken vanload full of latinos with a busted light, not a one can speak English (or selectively choses not to speak English), and he runs them and determines they're illegal (or can't find any record of them), that rather than holding them until INS deports them - which is absolutely what should happen - he has to write them a citation and let them go?!!?!

That's the level of stupidity in our law that I'm not believing. I just refuse to believe the laws on our books are that F'd up.

Part of the law is that immigrants MUST carry papers or they can be detained until they're verified. Just because someone is latino and doens't have a state ID doesn't mean they're illegal.... it may take a day or more to determine status, if someone is here on a visitors visa or a work visa. some parts of the law are being disputed, not all.

but you're right, if he does for some reason have a way to determine that they are in fact illegal, he cannot do a thing about it.

If someone is driving, they should be able to be verified by their drivers license. If the other 2-4 people in the vehicle can't be ID'd as US citizens or someone here on a valid unexpired visa, then they should be going along with the driver.

I just cannot believe our laws are that F'd up. It is almost incomprehensible to me that could be that F'd up. I'd believe Crook Co. IL has zero corruption almost before I'd believe our laws are that F'd up.

Chucky2, I once lived at what is effectively ground zero for this invasion, SoCal. Believe me when I tell you that there is no question who is illegal. The authorities have no intention of getting rid of them.

This is open border policy being enforced. It's a matter of agenda breaking down a non-enforced law. The only illegals detained are the ones used to meet a public relations quota. They throw a few under the bus and quell anger from our citizens.

The vast majority are perfectly well known, and safe and sound living the rest of their lives in our country. Their population is now including many children and grandchildren, who are all legal born citizens. There will be more than 100 million of their population at the end of this century. Legal majority control of several States.

Nothing is going to change that peacefully.

Nothing happened to state sovereignty, immigration policy is a federal issue, not a state one. The states are attempting to execute a power grab and exceed those powers authorized to them under the Constitution, and it is quite likely they will be slapped down for it.

Then the states ought to send the illegal immigrants up to DC and let those brain dead libtards deal with them. I think we should repeal the 23rd amendment too, no reason for it.

aliens are required to have identification with them by US law. it's the same way in probably every other country.

I'd support that, send any Illegal rounded up to DC so they can see first hand what we're dealing with.... although what kind of welfare does DC have running? Low skill jobs? Sufficient police force? Might not be sufficient to support the influx if illegal immigrants.. but then they'd understand why the states want them gone.

edit - health care too! got to have lots of hospitals staffed with OBGYN and midwifes!
