US Taxpayers...

If you would like to designate $3 to the fund, please check the applicable box.

  • Yes. I designate $3 to go to this fund.

  • Absolutely not. You'll have to take it from my cold, dead hands.

The Presidential Election Campaign Fund reduces candidates' dependence on large contributions from individuals and groups and places candidates on an equal footing in the general election.

No commentary needed...Pretty much self explanatory.
I vote no, because it won't affect outcome of elections in any way and I'd be out $3.

Fail for lack of reading - the selection does not increase or decrease your refund

That was there, but I didn't include it because I didn't understand that part.

Where does the money come from then?
Is it made out of thin air? Plucked from a tree?

I cannot support an election system which is designed to exclude all non Republicrat candidates. I could support the fund when they streamline the nomination system and stop filing nuisance lawsuits to keep quality candidates off the ballot. Until then, corrupt campaigns is as corrupt campaigns does.

The $3 is not related to your refund. It is assigned out of the General Fund.
Your tax form is just a way of allowing people to authorize the expenditure

Too bad I can't change polls on VB. Instead, I'd like to change the 2nd option to "No. I do NOT designate $3 to go to the fund."

I'd still check no and prefer the money be used for something else.
Is it safe to assume that if the money in the "General Fund" isn't spent, it's returned back to the US Treasury?
If so, then my vote still doesn't change then.

If a politician cant raise his own money, they dont deserve to be voted into office. The amount they can raise is an indication about how well they will do when they get into office. If they cant raise their own funds then probably people will not vote for them either.

This is the same problem with rich candidates.
