i've never watched a single bonus feature on any disc ever.
but i do hate exclusive content deals in every medium, be it stores, phone apps, whatever.
The documentary on The Great Escape DVD is awesome.

There's no choice in the matter, this is how capitalism works.
I actually like to watch special features and this is disappointing. I'm surprised Paramount is doing this, they seem pretty protective of their brand.
You're right, you HAVE to buy this!
When the Matrix first came out on DVD, it had some really cool special features, including a look at how they got those 360 degree shots, and I watched those. These special features added value.
Sadly, most special features are just crap though. Watching actors be idiots behind the scenes, or other 'reality TV' crap I wouldn't watch if they paid me.
The important part of this story, is about exclusives though, and how they hurt the consumer. Same with PC games; as a customer I'm pissed I don't get missions or other goodies that are a part of the finished game, that have been cut out to give a store exclusivity.
They have to find something that lets them keep people paying $60 who will pay that, instead of turning them into $10 customers - how can they do that besides that approach?
Give away physical items. Tshirts, posters, movie props... Make the packaging special. Splitting things up to extract the most money possible from your most dedicated fans is a bunch of crap.
