If Obama is exchanging prisoners (not that the guy was a real prisoner) wouldn't that endanger current soldiers? The muslims might get motivated to kidnap them etc. I mean obviously they would.
That thought would certainly cross the mind of rational thinking individuals.

Because until now they had qualms about kidnapping US soldiers  Thanks Obama!

I have to admit I'm not following their line of reasoning.

If terrorists are in a position to "kidnap" us, they're in a position to kill us.

"In exchange for the 28-year-old American, President Barack Obama agreed to release five high-level Afghan detainees from the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba."
So in order to release this soldier,Obama negotiated the release of 5 high-level terrorists.
I'm at a loss for words.

And how do you know what's really going on? You think these things are as simple as what you see and hear?

How many millions of Mexicans have we let in? Surely that's a good swap for Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi?

How did those Carter hostage negotiations go? :whiste:

I seem to recall hearing "sheet of glass" after Reagan took office...
Lo and behold the hostages were released.

Maybe you can whistle this, roughly 1500 missiles to Iran + Ronald Reagan = Iran-Contra.

The United States has negotiated with terrorists since the nation's founding. We had a whole thread on this very topic. From George Washington to Ronald Reagan, the U.S. has a long history of negotiating with terrorists, kidnappers, and pirates.
Yep, we just don't like admitting it.

Kudos to Team Obama for getting him out for so low a price. Generally the terrorists have a better grip on their own value and insist on a few hundred per American.

So war is over, I wouldn't say Nato or whatever won... so we were defeated? By the Taliban? LOL.

13 years ago muslims destroyed the World Trade Center Towers and now Arabs are putting up the highest buildings with money to burn and nato is whipped by muslim cave men lol. Muslim president to boot.

Before that we even stopped the serbs from wiping out the muslims from there country. Soon we'll have to do the same I suspect, I hope no one stops us... like china. I almost wish there was another 911 attack or a bunch of them. We need something to wake us up.

Just what, exactly, do 'we' need waking up about?

Muslim immigration in Europe and North America. It's the rise of terrorism. They are waking up in Europe fast. Right wing parties got 25% of the vote.

Four short sentences that manage to show us both the depth of your bigotry and your utter ignorance as well. Cool...

According to many, this so-called hero doesn't deserve a parade and backpay. If true, he's a deserter and should stand trial for that plus insubordination, treason, and maybe even be held responsible for the men who were killed searching for him.

Having quite a few friends that rank fairly highly in the military, their opinions seem to indicate top brass feels he is a deserter but will shy away from any type of penalty due to how much bleeding heart press this guy has gotten.

Funny, I haven't heard any such thing from any of the top military brass I know. :whiste:

"A few months ago I told the American people I did not trade arms for hostages. My heart and my best intentions still tell me that's true, but the facts and the evidence tell me it is not. As the Tower board reported, what began as a strategic opening to Iran deteriorated, in its implementation, into trading arms for hostages."

Get ready to see a lot more of it in the coming years. Canada is going downhill fast with 3rd world immigrants. Hopefully we'll clean house at some point but we are going to have to follow the lead of other nato countrys. It's happening fast though, not fast enough though. At least we'll finally have a use for all those empty chinese shipping containers. Mass Deportation.

Former soldiers do not have kind words (traitor, deserter, not a hero, etc.) for this guy = http://www.cnn.com/2014/06/01/us/bergdahl-deserter-or-hero/index.html

Seemed like a pretty shitty trade when I first heard about it, but I had only read the homecoming article. Seems more like a shady trade after reading this article. The information in this article raises a lot of questions. Sounds like he definitely deserted, but the likelihood he defected seems too high to just ignore, too. Either way, this guy wasn't worth it. Congress should break those NDAs, closed or open session.

Meanwhile, that private contractor for the CIA is still rotting somewhere, assuming he is still alive. If they were going to trade for anyone, it should have been that poor fucker. Just found his name; Robert Levinson.

My complaint about this is we didn't hand over everybody from Gitmo and then close the place. I see the party of small govt and personal liberties is complaining about not holding people without trial.

Did they make a campaign promise, deporting all the Muslims? :colbert:

Something tells me you are seriously misconstruing the reason they were elected.
