I would find nothing wrong with this punishment being done in a military and private environment. The fact that we had would still bring the same reprimands.

What he did was wrong, but I have to say one thing that was better than it could have been.

At least he attacked officers, my point is regularly terrorists go for the weakest person, who has nothing to do with anything and is just a random person. At least officers give orders.

That said he should never get out of Jail, b/c even those officers were doing nothingwrong, and were following orders that while might be unsavory, are not inhumane.

He is not deserving nor is legally protected by the same democratic rights as a citizen of our country.

He committed an act of treason and murder, under military service during war-time. He is subject to entirelly different punishment and ruling than you or would be in the court of law.

I am not supporting him. But I do have a counter-point. In the military there are some Officers that the Enlisted would love to kill. Maybe this guy had an axe to grind, and he tripped off-line? I am not supporting him, I am only offering a lame excuse for his outrageous actions.

I still have confidence he'll get the death sentence. Lets just hope it doesn't get entangled in court proceedings, appeals, etc. Then again, he's tried in military court right? Should be much quicker than state's court.

My understanding of the incident is that that "excuse" does not apply here. The officers he attacked were not his usual chain of command so there was no way he could possibly have had a grudge against them. It sounds more like a random psychotic act or a calculated act of treason. Either way here's hoping he gets what's coming to him.
