Hi all,

I am currently using Windows 2000 on a Sony Z505-LE laptop. My issue is with a US Robotics 2410 wireless PC card. This card worked when I was using a Windows ME and Windows 2000 dual boot setup.
Now, after I formatted my hard drive and reinstalled only Windows 2000 Professional the card won't work. It shows up in my hardware device manager with a yellow exclamation mark.
If I click on the properties of this piece of hardware in the device manager, I see that the Device status says:

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

I have updated the driver for this device to the specifications of the US Robotics website (driver version 1.33.0.0) and I can see that the driver is loaded just fine.

Now, if I go to the Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer(Local) -> System Log

I see three errors that seem to repeat:
1)
Type: Error
Date: 9/29/2002
Time: 3:54:16 PM
Source: Service Control Manager
Category: None
Event: 7000
User: N/A
Description:
The Cdralw2k service failed to start due to the following error:
The Service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

2)
Type: Error
Date: 9/29/2002
Time: 3:53:55 PM
Source: USR
Category: None
Event: 5002
User: N/A
Description:
U.S. Robotics Wireless Access 802.11b : Has determined that the adapter is not functioning properly.

3)
Type: Error
Date: 9/29/2002
Time: 3:53:55 PM
Source: USR
Category: None
Event: 5003
User: N/A
Description:
U.S. Robotics Wireless Access 802.11b : Could not find an adapter.

Also, if I uninstall the device in the hardware profile and restart the computer, Windows 2000 detects the hardware as new and picks the correct driver for the product but then when I look in the device manager, the errors remain the same.

BTW, I have all updates suggested by the Windows Update tool installed.

Can you think of anything else I can try?
Thanks!

RMA? It looks like the card is broken, I haven't ever used a USR wioreless product but I have used netgear and orinoco(Lucent) in the past with little trouble. My guess is your SOL dude, sorry.

I have the same exact card and am experiencing the same exact problems.

I have only tried it in windows 2000 and windows Xp and in both cases no luck.

It seems to show Rx and Tx numbers... and it only sending packets.

And then after a while it gives me the errors you get.

I'm debating buying another netgear card too see if it's the card or mt Di-614+ router.

Sweetness,
Mer.
