Rebate does not mention a limit.

Not sure about that one .... Towards the end of the rebate form from USR ...

Fraudulent submissions of multiple requests could result in a federal prosecution under U.S. Mail Fraud Statutes (18 USC, Section 1341

I read that to mean sending multiple requests for rebate on a single purchase. Like sending in teh original upc legitimately and then sending photocopies of the upc just to try and get more money back? I.e. the 'fraudulent' part of multiple submissions.

Know if there is a B&M store that carries these? A pricematch would be nice so I wouldn't have to wait for it...:)

Dell Home is having a 10% off home networking products promotion, as well as half off shipping. With both of these discounts, the US Robotics card comes to $33.91 shipped after rebate.

Check out link.

Cheaper, and you don't have to buy from Tiger Direct.

hey, thats a great price! I've heard bad things about TigerDirect, so I think I'd buy from PCMall. If anyone has experience, does USR have fast and/or reliable rebates?

Now, I'm new to the whole wirless thing, but I've heard that you can do peer-to-peer and not use an access point?

Also, if I had a 802.11b card and a normal NIC in a Windows 2000 machine, could I set it up so I didn't need an access point at all?

Rugger - if you can make your "wired" NIC speak to that wireless one without an access point, you're probably
going to become a rich man.

Good find.....need to see what I'm going to do first....got the access point on the way for the new house....need to figure out if I'm going to go USB or with a regular NIC + add-on PCMCIA card.....or the all-in-one cards....choices.....

rugger29, I presume you mean putting both cards in the same machine? If so, then yes you can bridge the connection together.

If you mean two seperate machines, one with wires, one wireless. Then obviously no.

yep, same machine. I was just looking for a cheaper solution than an access point. I've got a spare P2-350 machine, just not $130 for an access point..... heh

I have this card, and it works pretty good with my wireless SMC router. Can be anywhere in my 2-story house and get good to fair signals. Since I have the router in the window, my neighbor across the street can surf from his porch (for a price!).

Be careful. This card does not support networks using PKI (where a security key is automatically provided). The card is incompatible with MS' internal 802.11b network, and might not work with your company's either.
