I didn't watch the video because I know the kind of savagery to expect from Iran. It's about time we went in there and bombed the shit out of them, men, women & children.

That was the cover story. Good excuse to go in Irans waters and setuo surveillance and planning ahead.

The captain of the Al Molai, a fishing dhow, "expressed his sincere gratitude that we came to assist them. He was afraid that without our help, they could have been there for months," he added.
Hearsay got to love it. Thought newspapers work on facts which included collaborating a story with other parties that was involved

US government needs to get out of other peoples' business.

Wait a minute! I thought the United States was pure evil?

I thought Iran's Navy would crush our Navy. So, why can't they kill off a few pirates?

I thought Pirates spent most of their time drunk and jigging

Sorry were those Somalian Pirates? I read the same story about 13 hostages that were rescued by US navy but I think that happened in 2006 and it was a Ukranian ship.

But anyways. I want to ask this. WHAT ARE A IRANIAN FISHERSHIP DOING IN SOMALIAN WATERS?

Look at that ship. Do you think a wooden fishing boats can catch up to it and get on board? Somalians don't keep the boat they just hold it ransom then release when its pay and loot some of the stuff onboard. A Ukranian ship carrying tanks and weapons were even jacked by the pirates. Plus they paid them a 30 million dollar ransom.

Then NATO, Russia and US send ships to go look after the ships that travel of the coast.
Have a look where these ships were attacked
081017_somalia.jpg

In 2008 bandits have made at least $60 million so far (there have been more than 60 boats attacked, and the average ransom is between $1 and $2 million).

Now about 5 or 6 countries send battleships over there to help. But stilll the boats get jacked.
This is what a Pirate told Reuters
T
he world has repeatedly voted to fight pirates, but if the situation were a piece of cake, then the American ship would not just be watching the Ukrainian ship."
They dont go far they cant. They will stay in their waters and attack the foreign vessels that enter their waters.
If a foreign vessel enter the US or any other countries waters what is the protocol?
So my appoligies as the manage to free the ship but who was a ransom demand made to? All the war ships that get send there to help have their eyes just on a certain ship. Nothing else. So the pirates will just target another.
Now think of this. A Iranian ship with Fisherman in Somalian waters. Bit far to go fishing. I'm certain also the US navy had their eyes on that ship only.
Then the party that governed Somalia until an Ethiopian incursion installed a transitional government in late 2006. That governing body, now operating largely underground, has declared war on the incoming vessels.

There are territorial waters (12 miles limits, and economic zones (200 mile limits).

Trawlers are capable of being out to see months at a time and operate at any distance from their home ports.

The pirates also have support vessels that can loiter 3-4 weeks near standard shipping routes. Decent target shows up via network of spies and/or radar tracks and they can send in the attack fleet from the mother ship.

If an escort is detected, the target is ignored.

The escorts are not going to check out every fishing trawler in advance which is what the pirate support vessels are setup to look like.

Too bad they left out the beheading pictures or pictures of school age rape victims being stoned death. Can't really take pictures that depict how Iranian women are treated there compared to western civilizations either.

I know, what's up with that?

Everytime I see pictures of Disneyland, I have to sit back and wonder, " Why is there no pictures of American executions here?
Is the US ashamed that it executes it's citizens? You know, compared to the rest of the modern civilized western states.

So you're saying the US shouldn't have stopped those pirates?

Should the US also allow Iran to shut down the Strait of Hormuz?

Did they stop them? No they were already on the boat. Pirates will make ransom demands and leave when the ransom is paid. With the Ukranian ship which was filled with tanks and such the US navy ship just watched that they don't unload anything till the ransom arrived. Were there shots fired? Was pirates killed? What happened. I mean how do you rescue hostages without one person getting shot or one round being fired? Don't think I have to tell you the attitude of Somalian guerrillas because they are not afraid seeing any warship from any country.

I wish the US for once will just sit and learn about a enemies culture and how the people in that country were brought up before they poke their nose in.

If they that then the newspaper headline wouldve been

US SAVE 13 ISLAMIC HOSTAGES FROM SOMALIAN PIRATES.
Then people in the middle east would thank the US.

Same with this Iran situation. For ages have people used religion to forward their own agendas. Islam is not violent nor does it say anywhere violence must be answered with violence or anything. But if you make people believe that you can force a strict culture where it would become their culture from generation to generation.

On the other hand in the US theres different religions and such but you were brought up in a way where patriotism is part of your culture not religion.

Wars are won through propaganda not weapons. Invading a country and removing their oppressive government is not winning.

Theres a reason those countries cut the people of from the outside world. So that they wont find out they been lied to.

Those countries a person must leave alone eventually the people will open their eyes and they will liberate themselves. Look at Egypt. Forcing a thing will only create more violence

We need to reinstitute maritime execution for captured pirates.

Blow their boats up. Simple. US Navy got a lot of missiles and no better way to test them.
But its their waters. So it would be a act of war.

The referenced video was uploaded 4 years ago.

The Iranian leadership has since become rougher on the people after the protests on their last election.
Can you cite any specific examples that would make a video of pictures from Iran today different than that one from 4 years ago?

WARNING FROM A FORMER MUSLIM

Read that. Why is the US going after Iran? Has Iran Already Gone Nuclear?

The Rise of the Islamist Axis
Caroline Glick, THE JERUSALEM POST Apr. 6, 2006

On Monday, Russia’s Novaya Gazeta newspaper reported that part of Ukraine’s Soviet-era nuclear arsenal may well have found its way to Iran. With the breakup of the Soviet Union, the Ukrainians agreed to transfer the Soviet nuclear arsenal that remained in Ukraine after its independence to Russia. According to Novaya Gazeta, some 250 nuclear warheads never made it to Russia and are thought to have been sent to Iran instead. The report further noted that the warheads will remain operational until 2010. Responding to the report, Gen. Yuri Baluyevsky, Russia’s deputy defense minister and the chief of General Staff, said, “Russia’s General Staff has no information about whether Ukraine has given 250 nuclear warheads to Iran or not.”

It is impossible to assess the accuracy of the report. The Ukrainian government has dismissed its allegations. Russia may well have invented the story to shift media attention away from the growing awareness that Russian support for Teheran, Damascus and Hamas effectively places it in the enemy camp in the US-led war against global jihad. But whether this particular report is true or false, there is no doubt that the danger to Israel and the rest of the Western world emanating from Iran and its allies is growing by the day. In recent testimony before the US Congress, John Negroponte, director of National Intelligence, said that the danger that Teheran “will acquire a nuclear weapon and the ability to integrate it with ballistic missiles that Iran already possesses” is a cause “for immediate concern.”

Also this week, as the Web site Regimechangeiran noted, the American Foreign Policy Council published a report quoting Western intelligence sources as asserting that Iran is in the process of assembling intermediate range ballistic missiles with a range of 4,500 km [2,800 miles]. The extended range will enable Iran to hit almost all of Western Europe with nuclear warheads. The sources further maintained that Iran is already in possession of at least one nuclear bomb.

No. But you are fighting against Islam not Iran.
"You can’t teach a monkey to speak and you can’t teach an Arab to be democratic.

Knocking down the government wont accomplish anything except for US soldiers dying in a foreign country. I mean if you wanna die in the military die defending your country not on distant places because the government are too stupid to see you can't changes peoples believes with military action. You make them stronger and forward their BS propoganda.

Do you think you can ever have piece with people that believe in this?

Religion or is it a Mental Illness?
http://www.glumbert.com/media/rave.html

There is no peace. Theres over a billion muslims supporting democracy and freedom and such. What is happening is they turn it into a war against their religion. One that they have bended to forward their own agenda. But to other muslims it looks like your attacking Iran because their muslim. Thats how they get the US with basic propoganda and more and more muslims see it wrong and start to think the US is the devil.

Thomas Jefferson already proved how to deal with the Barbary pirates. You kill them until they stop, or there are no more pirates. Problem solved. Those ships aren't poking their nose into Somali, the Somali pirates are going out into the open sea and attacking them.

You should read more history. Learning about Somali culture would be a waste of time, and wouldn't solve anything.
