US Laptop in EU - Power Converter?

I have an HP laptop that's not more than 6 months old and am leaving for Europe in a week and a half to study abroad. I would like to bring it with, but I'm not sure about the power conversion in Denmark and Germany (where I'll be). For the battery charger for my digital camera I already had to spend $15 for a new AC adapter. For the laptop, however, I'm ASSUMING that if I just buy an end converter (or whatever it's called) to make the US cord fit in Denmark and German electrical sockets, but the AC adapter I already have will convert the power, correct? That's like $2 as opposed to probably $20+ for a new adapter. Anyone have experience with this that can fill me in?

Almost all Laptop Power bricks since the early 90s are capable of 110V and 230V so all you need is an adapter for the power socket itself.

Have fun while over here in the "old world".

That's what I figured, thanks for the responses. Hopefully my digital camera battery charger and laptop are the only things I'll have to plug in and I'm not missing anything.

Does anyone know why the US isn't like the UK or why the UK isn't like the rest of Europe, etc. (or why everyone isn't like whichever standard came first) in regard to the plug style and voltage?
