"Almost a decade after Middle Eastern terrorists with expired visas attacked the U.S., the government has failed to implement a security measure to adequately track foreigners like them who enter the country legally but never leave.

As a result nearly half of the nation’s estimated 12 million illegal immigrants actually entered the U.S. legally but overstayed their visa, according to a new federal report. That’s because the agency responsible for keeping the nation safe—the Department of Homeland Security—can’t keep track of immigrants who remain in the U.S. after their visas expire."

It is incredible how inept the government can be at times. Ten year after 9/11 and they still can get a handle on this!

There are hundreds of nursing homes in the US that have residents who are receiving long term care for free. When you think of grandma or grandpa that paid into social security and Medicare all those years, you have to admit that they paid their dues. However, some of the residents have never paid a dime in taxes and don't speak English very well. Mexicans? you ask... well, yeah, a few. But a huge number are from Eastern Europe and Russia.

So how did this happen? They came here to visit and decided to stay. Some are legal, some aren't. But you don't hear anything about the elderly being deported especially if they are in nursing care.

Homeland Security does not want to touch the elderly for obvious reasons, but conservatives keep complaining about entitlements needing to be reduced. If we don't tighten up the flow of elderly visitors to America who suddenly find themselves broke and unable to go home, our Medicaid and Medicare system is going to collapse.

That's about the poorest deflection I could have ever imagined.

Who's being racist? Tag em all. If they can move around on their own, tag em. If they're skin is red, white, and blue... tag em.

Agreed. I think the untracked freedom of movement by citizens in this country is 1) taken for granted and 2) a threat to national security. Tagging everyone wouldn't intrude on their lives and would contribute significantly to national security efforts.

It would certainly be a lot cheaper and easier then taking away our constitutional rights, declaring war on the world, and funding homeland security.
