Just saw on CNN that 150 Pakie Taliban fighters are now free to go, thanks to a "good will gesture" from the Eastern Alliance (who?). Man, for a big winner, US sure gets little respect in the region. No one seems to give a damn what US thinks. Northern Alliance moved into Kabul, Omar was set free and now this. Great.

Estern Alliance.. ok.. just like in some comic, two NA talking "Right, when we have finished off the Taliban we will fight eachother and whoever wins that attacks the Americans"

but in the end... show respect, get respect.

What does that have to do with the US getting no respect?

Did you expect those soldiers to be captive for the rest of their lives? The war is practically over.

First, there are no "good guys" left in Afghanistan. We know the Taliban are bad people, but the Northern Alliance is no better, being comprised of an alliance of warlords whose interest in ridding Afghanistan of the Taliban so that they may take over the land coincided enough with US interests that the Americans were quite content to have the NA do the dangerous work on the ground while the US bombed from a respectable distance. Now that the US has made a deal with the devil (again!), you seem surprised when your new 'allies' make decisions against your interests.

Youre lame-ass anti-US bull as usual.

<< but in the end... show respect, get respect >>

You're underhandedly implying we don't show respect.

You've obviously read way too much propaghanda in your lifetime, cause your post makes no sense but makes me want to become a communist! Wow, how does he do it?!

Interesting Washington Post article found at the link below:

Bombing Raises Question of Al Qaeda Fate

As U.S. warplanes continue to pound cave complexes containing al Qaeda fighters in eastern Afghanistan, the onslaught is raising questions about whether the ultimate American aim should be defeating the terrorist forces -- or annihilating them.

U.S. military advisers in eastern Afghanistan worked to scuttle a possible surrender deal yesterday, local Afghan leaders reported. There was some indication that the al Qaeda members wanted to set conditions for their surrender, such as being allowed to surrender to someone other than the U.S. government. But one Afghan leader, after emerging from negotiations with U.S. advisers, said flatly, "They just want to kill them."

So what should we do at the present moment in Afghanistan in regards to the current fighting in the east? Either unconditional surrender or allow them to surrender under their conditions?

I have my own convictions regarding the treatment of suicidal members affiliated with terrorist organizations. But what do the rest of you think?

Congratulations on making it to the second paragraph.

Golliwogg, were you refuting my quote, or using it to reinforce your point? I couldn't tell.
