The STI doesn't even come with a damn radio. Drivers in a comparison preferred the Evo8 over the STI though. Too sleepy to find link now, maybe someone else will provide.

/praises mighty Subaru

btw what is it with people bitching about the lack of stereo in the STi? Everybody says they hate the stock stereo and the first they do when they buy a car is tear it out and put in a fancy aftermarket... but God fscking help it if the manufacturer gets wise and doesn't include the POS stock stereo that everybody hates...

If you can afford a $32,000 car, you can afford an aftermarket deck.

The car itself is prewired, and installing a new deck and components is a breeze.

the USDM Lan Evo has a mechanical or viscous center and rear differentials, and an open front differential
the JDM Lan Evo GSR has a mechanical or viscous front differential, ACD (active center diff) center diff , and AYC rear diff (active yaw control).

I guess the Evo8 has S-AYC or somethign like that.

I'm just wondering how the Lan Evo's ACD compares to the STi's DCCD

I didn't know about the prewiring. I was reading it waiting for a haircut and though that you'd have to do everything yourself such as finding spots for your speakers and wiring it yourself. The sti page says there is an option for a stereo system, but are the wires there even if you don't pay for the stereo option?

Yes, the wires are there even if you don't pay for any stereo option. Subaru is assuming that people who buy the STi will either be enthusiasts who would prefer to install an aftermarket system or racers who are headed straight for the track/course and don't want a stereo.

STi would spank the Evo 8...at least in my mind 🙂 I have read a few reviews that appreciated the STi more than the mitsubishi, though. Of course the Evo beats the current WRX, but it doesn't really stand a chance against the STi. Gives up 25 or so horsepower along with the electronics.
