Really? We never would have guessed with your various crusades.

Yeah didn't imagine that would be a big surprise, I thought I made it pretty clear. If intel would have made it to where they are today by legal, competitive means i'm sure so many wouldn't feel the same way. As it is, they deserve nothing but contempt and disgust AFAIC.

Back to the matter at hand, intel should have just adopted AMD's implimentation instead of attempting their own since the necessary and working instructions are already implimented in all the major OSes.

I'm sure that if AMD had properly documented their implementation Intel would have followed it. The only way for Intel to have adopted AMD's implementation would have been to physically test one of AMD's chips in this scenario... that's the only way those who discovered this flaw were able to determine how AMD's implementation worked since it wasn't explicitly stated in their x86-64 documentation for the SYSRET instruction.

In that case I'd imagine that you're every bit as eager as I am to see what the result of Intel's upcoming hearing at the EU General Court will be eh? Considering it'll be the first time a judicial branch will review the facts and make a judgement on the matter.

No, not really ShintaiDK. Most people in this thread have no idea what supporting 30-50 thousand machines is like. Most people have to go through a months worth of testing to implement a patch and this takes real man hours. Either way, thanks for the link and information.
