The US doesn't have any bases or personnel in Canada.
My bad Canada no longer have nuclear facilities, but still allow US nuclear capability ships to visit our ports.

That solved the problem isn't it?
Now, go beg someone else for money.

$100 billion a year should do.

You think we spend 14% of our military budget defending Canada?

Our military presence around the world definitely could be seen as defending the countries we're located in...although I'm not sure we can make the argument they owe us since we're often defending our own interests as well. But in any case, I don't think Canada is the best example.

No, Canada still receives protection from US Armed Forces and should pay.

Could you possibly provide an example of that protection? We're their only land border neighbor, and the only country I can possibly think they'd need military protection from would be Russia, which seems a bit unlikely these days.

These wars in the middle east . Whats the true route cause. Is it religion. Seems to be a great deal of effort to make this the real reason . Oil is this really about oil ? If ya connect the dots it would seem so . But are all the dots being shown so as not to give a complete picture of what this may truely be about when all dots are connected. Iraq. The craddle of civilization. We went into Iraq looking as reported to us for weapons of mass destruction. WHy the craddle of civilization. Why all the lies about buried weapons of mass destruction? Was it so when we went into Iraq that our digging up old ruins would go unnoticed. What was the US government really after. Our history . Our True history. Likely this is the case as they need to understand our solar system better and all of its planets . Not just that which is taught.

In this video you will see a trojan comet Its in the same orbit around the sun as earth . Note how they show the orbit . Thats exactly the same way we orbit in the solar system. Not around the sun but behind the sun .

Here is better Video . Its funny he says its been there for 10,000 years yet it was just discovered . Why all the lies? They have noway of knowing how long its been there . It may have occurred in june of 2011.

Maybe 2% of the US military budget would be more fair.

One question how much time have you spend patrolling the waters off the coast of Canada? I know in my 12 years of service I spent at least 5% of my time patrolling in these waters.

Ok, how well protected would they be without the US Forces?

That's what I'm asking you. Your claim seems to be that we spend a significant amount of money directly protecting Canada with US forces. Now that sounds kind of silly to me, because I can think of absolutely no examples of how exactly we're doing that. To put it another way, how would Canada "without the US Forces" be differently protected from Canada today? For one thing, protection implies protection FROM something...what exactly are we necessary to protect Canada from?

Only behalf of some Canadian effort, or did we have an interest in keeping those waters safe? It's not like they're a thousand miles away from us or anything...their waters are pretty close to our waters in a lot of places.

But...terrorists!!

Military still spends a good bit less than other major government branches. It is not sustainable and nor are they. When push comes to shove I think people will support the reduction of military before less prescription meds, for example. The military will be squeeze, and by golly it should. It really more than doubled in a decade? Inflation and population sure didn't force a doubling.

While military spending definitely needs to come down the real elephant in the room is the .govs "medical" expenses or specifically medicare and medicaid. The government has increased its spending on medical entitlements by roughly 9% a year far outpacing inflation. Put that into excel and plot it out 20 years for now, there is no way in hell we will be able to afford it. At the same time it is the political "3rd rail" so we likely won't do a damned thing about it until we hit the wall and when that happens the pain will be a lot worse.

How does spending on private medical insurance and care compare?

Maybe, but don't you think such massive changes to spending in our economy would create some pretty major problems? People act like government spending is burning piles of money or something, but the government spends the money on things like goods and services purchased directly or indirectly from people...and it employs a fair number of people too. You think sudden, massive changes to that is really a wise move?
The same argument you mentioned can also be said about the military budget and every single federal department.

The "Military Industrial" complex isn't burning piles of money either...It spends the money on things like goods and services purchased directly or indirectly from the people. The "Military Industrial" complex employs a fair number of people at the Pentagon, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Ratheon, and many other defense firms, contractors, suppliers.

The problem here is everyone in both political parties wants to defend their sacred cows. Nothing should be immune from the meat axe cleaver.
I have zero problems with taking every single thing back to where they were under Bill Clinton adjusted for inflation.

I have said many times before, we spend too much on defense and a good third of it is wasteful spending anyway.

Well strange gooberment actions going on allover the world . Cold war is over yet Russia needs 5,000more bunkers. For what?

Earlier this spring I told you guys the next sign would come from the heavens. Not to worry I won't tell ya any more than I already have . Have a happy 2012 . I won't be happy about all the deaths but to get rid of the people who rule and the sheepo who blindly follow its endgame time. All our problems in this century are about WAR. The biggest problem would be the biggest weapons producers and harsh judgement should fall on these people . Consider yourselves lucky I am not worthy of passing judgement or this country would already be over right after Israel.

Do we really need 54,000 troops in Germany?
28,000 in South Korea
40,000 Japan
11,000 Italy

Really?

Do we really need 54,000 troops in Germany? yes
28,000 in South Korea yes
40,000 Japan yes
11,000 Italy probably not

Really?

Germany: (and I'm no military expert here by any stretch) used as a FOB, especially for EU and middle east. A lot of soldiers would have come home dead from Iraq & Afghanistan had it not been for our hospitals in Germany.

South Korea: Need to keep an eye on N Korea & China.

Japan: Need to keep an eye on N Korea & China (though primarily China).

Now the nearly 170+ (IIRC) other countries we have troops in, I'm sure some are not necessary.
