This is going to backfire so spectacularly. First a US attorney who refuses to enfore the law needs to be removed. Imagine the chaos at the next Trump protest. They are opening the door for open gunfire in the nation's capital. Of course, they will pick and choose who to prosecute and who not to. We already know this administration is cool with any crime that is in service to Trump. J6 criminals good. Sandwich thrower felon.

I agree in spirit, just maybe not in the details ... US Attorney offices generally have some leeway (with input from main DoJ) as to what their "focus" areas will be. Those are usually aligned with the politics of the admin and as a result some things get tighter enforcement and some things get little (or no) effort. Having said that, I don't think something like letting DC turn into Tombstone is something that should fall into that category. And, it wouldn't if we had a sane admin.

It is slightly confusing isn't it... crime is allegedly so high in DC that they had to call the National Guard in, yet the situation will be made better with people openly carrying firearms in the streets.

Why not just employ Donald's favourite strategy to solve this alleged crime problem: Stop collecting crime statistics.

Yes, I know I'm attempting to apply logic to fascist strategies, their only aim here of course is total control and to wear the populace down with bullshit / alarming news and so decrease resistance / instil an air of helplessness and pointlessness rather than defiance.
