We destroyed their enemy for them, fractured Iraq & set them back a generation, maybe longer. We're doing the same in Syria & Libya. Jordan & Egypt were co-opted long ago, as is the KSA. Lebanon sure as Hell is no kind of existential threat.

Do you understand the meaning of what I wrote? I didn't challenge whether they wanted it or not. They publicly said they did. I challenged the notion that we did it because they wanted us to. It's an important distinction. Lots of countries want us to do or not do certain things. What matters is if we're doing things at the behest of foreign governments instead of for our own reasons. Bush made the decision to attack Iraq very quickly after 911. He wanted to retaliate for 911 in a big way and he also had daddy issues. We were going to war there regardless of Israel's position on the matter. Just like we were going to war there regardless of what the actual intel said about WMD's. This decision was pre-determined in advance of Israel's urgings. In advance of everything.

About laughed my balls off watching the CBS news tonight and the UK, Isreali and our UN ambassador going on about how Iran is a destabilizing entity in the ME. It is like we have arrived on bizzaro world where all the nation destroying these three countries have done never happened.
