I just installed Winxp again and now when I try to connect to the pc with the serial cable it just simply doesnt work.

I had the same problem When I was using win2000 but somehow it started working, then with my last xp install it worked without any problems and now I'm having the same problems.

I had similar issues with my iPaq. Suprisingly, the solution for me was to just reset the iPaq itself. Now I never have problems. (the hard reset at the bottom that you have to push in with the stylus).
 
I'm not going to hard reset it, no way... dont want to loose everything I have..

going to test if soft reset works
 
woot.. soft reset worked 🙂

along with installing the compaq fix, but that did nothing untill the soft reset
