Urine AND hair sample for a drug test?

I just got a new job as a PC technician assistant at an IT deptartment of a chemical plant. I got the paper work and the drug test slip for the clinic I had to go to. I thought it was going to be the same routine like for my previous job. wait about 10min, pee in a cup, wash my hands and walk out. I go into the clinic and the lady gives me some papers to fill out. One of them was consenst of hair sample.

I was like hmmmm oh well let's see what happens. I walk in and the nurse lady chuckles because she noticed I have short hair. "This is gonna be painful" she says..I was like g thx. Anyways she tried her to best to cut in several places to make it less noticable. They needed 130 strands of hair at least 1/2 inch long.
but wait, that's not the worst part.
Following that I was given a eye, ear, and physical test.
My eyes were ok, hearing excellent, and ...

The doc was doing the normal tests, blood pressure, checked inside my ears, looked closely at my eyes. He slips on some plastic gloves and says "down to your trousers cowboy".
I just thought bah it's about time I get my foot in the door and gain experience in the field, I need this job (senior in High school).

its all good, you can't really notice unless you look closely.

they gave me a physical..you know..turn your head and cough. I don't know why, first time I've had one actually.
Oh well I start work Monday at 1.

Not a fan of hair test. You could be clean for a looong time and still test positive if your hair is somewhat long......

Few months, I have heard up to 6 months, but I have yet to get an accurate number.
 
I keep saying to myself that I'd refuse a drug test simply because it's an invasion into my privacy. Reason being: "I don't do drugs. If my word isn't good enough for you, then I don't want to work here." Suppose this is fine in principle and the first real chance I have to put it to a test I would cave. Money's money... 😉

Average of 90 days, but it is dependent upon the length of the hair.

If I was a recently reformed drug user, and was planning on getting a drug test done, you could be sure I'd walk into that place looking like a marine.

The minute management wants to give freely of themselves, is when I do the drug test as a condition of employment.
