Urgent! Windows XP Setup Problem!

I just built a new system, and when the setup gets the the part where it is a blue screen and at the bottoms says "Starting Windows..." It just stays there forever. I have tried two different XP CDs and two different CD-ROM drives, and it still does not work. ANY suggestions, comments, ideas, etc. would be GREATLY appreciated. 🙂

Specs:

AMD Duron 950Mhz
Epox 8KTA3L+ Mobo
256MB Kingston PC133 SDRAM
IBM Deskstar 60GXP 40GB
Lite-On CD-RW 16x10x40
SB Live! 5.1
GardExpert GF2 MX200

Any other hardware in there? Try removing everything except your video card. If that gets you in, then you can add your other stuff back in one at a time to see what is causing the problem.

onboard promise or highpoint controller?

Update: I tried doing it with only the video card plugged in, and still no go. As for the promise or highpoint controller, I'll have to look into that. Does Windows XP have a problem with them? Thanks again.

on this one and many other forums when i read about problems installing windows XP lots of times i see this comment

" take out your GF2 and use an old pci based video card and install XP then when done put back your GF2 and thats all you need to do"

now most of the time this fixes the problem but i am not saying it will here

haha that's funny ...
well i installed xp using a geforce ddr card

if your problem is during setup i would go to the bios and change it to fail safe options ... go through with setup and change it back to normal after ...

for some reason this is how i fixed my install problem...but you might not have the same problem...my problem occurred during the last step of the installation where it would start up and than i get the BSOD.
