The video card automatically senses which input the monitor is hooked up to. If you connect the monitor via the VGA (blue) port, the DVI (white) port will be disabled. If you connect the monitor via the DVI port, the VGA port will be disabled. If you connect two monitors up, both ports will be enabled and seen by windows.

Are you still using the Viewsonic VA520 listed under "MY RIG"? It only has a VGA port I believe.

ya, but when i go to display properties i don't see a second monitor option you know, with the two monitor squares and the number 1 and 2. i tried connecting 2 monitors at a time and only one came on. under device manager it only listed one display adapter, as far as i know i think its suppose to have a secondary one too. please don't tell me i have to RMA my video card

Did you look through all your NView settings? If I'm understanding this correctly, you can only get one port to work (RGB or DVI) to work at one time. Yes?

If you haven't already, check out your nview options.

Oh yeah, what Nvidia driver version are you using?

Just so I understand you correctly, you have hooked up two monitors to your EVGA 6600 GT. The EVGA 6600 GT has a VGA output, DVI output, and S-Video output. One of the monitors you connected is the Viewsonic VA520 which only has a VGA port. What was the other monitor, does it have a DVI input, and how did you connect it?

Since the video card automatically senses which input the monitor is hooked up to, it may be that the monitor is not returning a signal to the video card. It is rare, but I have seen it happen. Or your video card's DVI port may be bad. Again, it is rare, but not unheard of.

the dvi will work but i can only connect one monitor at a time and if i switch ports i have to restart for it to work. so i think that windows is just not detectign the secondary display adapter
the other monitor is also a vga but i used an adapter to hook it up to dvi

"the other monitor is also a vga but i used an adapter to hook it up to dvi"

I wonder if that is the problem then. Anyway you could get your hands on a DVI monitor, even if temporarily?
