Urgent urgent help, PC WONT START!!!

I basically built my own computer... After connecting all of the necesarry conections , I turned on the computer and I hear the fans from the CPU, Video card, and the PSU go on and immediately turned off after 1 second...

What could possibly be wrong? The LED from the motherboard is green (standby mode).
Would this be a power issue? Would this be a connection issue, cpu, memory, etc? Did i just send 1000 dollars down the drain? I'm terribly worried and would really appreciate some help.

This is the first time I build a computer in 4 years, so I dunno if i did anything terribly wrong.

Intel Core 2 Duo e6750 2.66ghz
GeForce 7950GT OC
Thermaltake 500w Pure Power Power Supply
Corsair XMS2 DDR 2 2gb memory
Hitachi Desktar 320gb SATA hard drive
ASUS P5N SLI motherboard
ANTEC Sonata SOLO case

One common oversight is the extra power cables required by today's motherboards and video cards. On the Asus P5N SLI, there's the square 2x2-pin power receptacle at the upper-rear corner of the motherboard, which takes the ATX12V power cable (2 yellow & 2 black wires). The video card will have a receptacle for a 6-pin PCI-Express power cable on the inboard end.

Are both of those connected?

I'd recheck the front panel connections on the mobo. I don't know if that would cause your problem but it's worth a check. Maybe you got the power and reset pins mixed up.

You are my hero... I had no idea on that 2x2 pin connector... you literally saved my life... i cant thank you enough. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok, this is very good news. I'm currenly installing windows xp... I have a sata hitachi drive of 320gb... however, when win xp setup asks me if i wanna partition the drive, it only shows 130 gbs... whats wrong?

Doesn't XP without SP2 not recognize drives that large? I think that's the issue, but someone else can confirm. I think the rest of the drive will show once you're patched up.

Thanks for the quick responses guys :)

I'm having yet another problem :p

After windows formatted my hard drive, ir reset my computer... now the computer is stuck at the windows XP professional loading screen... the blue bar loading bar moves, but nothing happens...

any ideas?

Do all the settings in BIOS manually, especially the memory timings and voltage - remember 2T command rate.

It is very important on this board.

by the way, the memory timings have been set to 5-5-5-12

is that correct?
and also, do i have to set the memory voltage to another value ? if so, where can i change the values in the bios...i cant seem to find the memory voltage settings.

PS: heres what i put

FSB MEMORY CLOCK MODE: Linked
FSB MEMORY RATIO: Auto
FSB (QDR) MHz: 1333

TCL -5
TRCD -5
TRP -5
TRAS -12
Command per Clock: 2 clock

Is that correct?

BTW: How are these temps for the e6750?

(ADVANCED - JUMPER-FREE CONFIGURATION - VOLTAGE CONTROL - MEMORY VOLTAGE)

BTW, read the BIOS settings chapter (Chapter 2.2) in the manual. If you have any questions, post them here.

Sorry to hi-jack this thread, however I have the same symptoms of the OP. No beep, no video, no post.

New install of a P5K /6750. The HD lights light up, the green light on the MB is lit, the fans run, the 2X2 power is plugged in, vid power is connected, and vid card green light is lit. Just nothing indicating a post. Where do I go from here?

Try to POST with only 1 stick of memory.

If that doesn't work, try the other stick.

And have only 1 Hard Drive connected, and only the "bare essentials" - do not connect the card readers, PCI cards, Sound cards etc.

Only the Floppy (if applicable), DVD drive, HD, 1 RAM stick, CPU w/ HSF, Video Card.

Double check all the connectors/cables.

Now what I am seeing is,
1) the HDD seeks
2) the MB green light is on.
3) The Vid card (Quadra 3400) green light is on
4) re-seated the Processer (get hot quick) !
5) All fans work
6) My case (Antec P182) does not have a speaker, but there is a buzzer on the MB. It never beeps or buzzes.

baffling!

Try a different Video Card.

The motherboard might not be recognizing Quadra 3400.

Aha, good recommendation!
I tried another vid card, and I can get the post information now! Whew!
However, I can't use my quadro card. How would one go about getting the MB to recognize the Quadro?
