Ok, I really need a 19-21" CRT. Something that will do 1600x1200 at 85hz at least. Also need one that is completely flat (not just vertically way like the older Trinitrons). The current one I have is a 17" Samsung 755DF and I really like it, so you know what kind of quality I'm expecting. But with all these monitors I'm not sure what to get. I heard, for instance, that ViewSonic monitors die fast or malfunction, is this true? And isn't Optiquest a sub-division of ViewSonic? I don't mind the color scheme a whole lot, but preferably not a black one unless it has great features. Here are the choices:

19" CRT
21" CRT

I really really need help here as I don't know a whole lot about these monitors. I don't want to spend too much (I get a total of 40% off, don't ask), but at the same time I want quality, so if there's a really good model I'll go all out. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease give me some suggestions, your help is much appreciated! ;)

Get a 21" Sony CPD-G520 from Mwave.com for $629. That would be your best deal. Better than any deal on that page.

No you don't understand. I HAVE to pick one from there, it's the only place where I might even be able to get it for free (I won't explain). I know there are way better monitors out there, but I need to pick one of these. Looking for a 21". Help?

If that's the case, I'd go for the Dell or HP monitor. Color is the only real difference as both are Trinitrons.

What kind of Trinitron is it? I mean, weren't the older ones still rounded horizontally (but flat vertically, like a cylinder instead of a sphere cutout)? What I'm saying is, are these COMPLETELY flat or just flat one way?

As far as I know, FD Trinitron does mean a Flat-CRT, yes.

Get one that has 'Sony' on the front - you wont be disappointed! :)

From the ones you have listed in your first post...

- Black Dell P1130 looks good ('FT Trinitron' being the v. important bit)
- Hitachi makes very good monitors I think - not too sure on this.

If it was my decision, I'd go with one that had Sony internals (FD trinitron) as I have used/bought several of these monitors now. I use the Multiscan E400 - the budget 19" model. Its only budget as it doesnt include any features such as a USB hub - the internals are the same.

From that lineup the Dell screen looks the best to me.

I think I'm going for the Dell, actually this is the one I was looking at anyway. Thanks for the tip! Not too expensive either. Hope it's nice ;)

Get the largest you can afford, you won't be sorry ..................... you can probably return it if you change your mind within 30 days.
Don't worry about USB hubs or speakers or microphones built into the monitor, they are all available separately, just concern yourself with the video quality of the screen ...............!

My 19" seems too small now after a short time on a 21" ......... flat screens are much easier to look at and AG Trinitron is the best looking CRT I have used (the two tiny hairlines are less noticable the longer you use your monitor) .......... IMHO.
