quick specs-
brisbane x2 4000
abit nview

My system both in bios and with speedfan (abit's software doesnt work on this mb yet) say my cpu is running 70 degrees C. Wayyyyy to hot. however my system is not unstable, cool to the touch, and doesnt turn off. so i downloaded 'core temp' it says my cpu is only 35 degrees C.

if thats the case what is in the 70s? heat is the number 1 killer of pc compentents so im kinda freaked out.

i have attached a link to a screenshot that may help explain further.

You have an innacurate motherboard temp sensor. Luckily, all of the new processors have an internal sensor, so you can just use either CoreTemp, or the Core readout in SpeedFan.

Im checking on the rma so should i go out and buy a new board temporarally?

what is the max temp of my chip? i want to make sure the internal sensor will shutdown my system before it frys itself

myocardia you are 100% correct. i put the chip in another board with the same cooler and its running at 42 under load at 2835(10.5x270). which is a 700mhz oc. that is depressing becuase my 3600 is running 3135 (9.5x330) a 1235 oc.
