Urgent Question Regarding College Financial Aid

I have a question about financial aid in college. I was checking online at some of the schools I applied to and they said that my mom's 2001 tax return is missing. My mom hasn't filed hers yet, and I doubt she will have it filed by April 1.

Do I really need it for financial aid? I sent all the schools my mom and dad's 2000 tax return
LEt's say my mom doesn't file by April 1. wouldn't it be unfair to request this document since the deadline for tax returns is april 15?

Why do you need the her tax return by April 1?

I'm still filling out finacial aid papers for this semester's tuition :Q🙂

Because colleges make their decisions by April 1, which makes their financial aid decisions by april 1 as well

So you're trying to get financial aid through the college and not through the government.....ok, I get it now.

Some schools will let you submit an estimated tax return and forward a copy of the submitted tax return when it's been filed. But the catch in that is if you've already estimated your return, you'd probably be able to spend a bit more time to make it the finalized form. 🙁 See if the schools will let you do that -- call up the aid offices.
