URGENT: problem with "official" detonator installation

I just downloaded the new "official" detonators (the self-extracting flavor) and it gave me an error during the install. I was all happy that it had native 3d stereoscopic support for my ancient 3d glasses. THEN, it said something like,"PCI ID not found, discontinuing installion." And after a restart my video was completely screwed and I loaded the revelator drivers in the meantime. I have an Asus v3400/tv (a TNT 1). What should I do?

Before you install new drivers, it's best to start from scratch i.e. a "standard VGA adapter". Follow below.

Go to Control Panel/Display/Settings/Adapter/Change adapter. Choose "show all hardware". Choose "standard VGA adapter". Reboot. Download Zipped version of driver, it's better. Unzip it and put it in a folder where you can find it easily. Go back to the first sentence of this reply. Click "change", select your vidcard from the list of manufacturers. Click "have disk". Browse to where you you unzipped it. Keep clicking on the subfolders until you can't click anymore and choose that file. It's usually an .inf file. But it might be something different.

It sounds complicated but it's not. Once you do it, you'll understand the process a little better. All you are doing is telling your computer where to look for the driver. It does the rest. Good luck.

yea, i knew how to do all that, but I just though that the self extracting driver would automatically overwrite my old drivers.....but i guess not. I'll try uninstalling all traces of other drivers, thanks.

ARGH!!!1 i uninstalled all other drivers and now i'm in standard vga graphics adapter. Its horrible...i can barely read what i'm typing (16 colors, 640x480) I extracted the zip file of nvidia drivers to a folder and tried to update drivers manually but when I showed it the folder, it wouldn't let me choose any of those cards. the only thing listed was my asus drivers which it obviously wanted me to use, and the reference nvidia drivers, but THEY WERE DATED june something of 2000!! please help!

You didn't read my post in the other thread about the 12.41 drivers. These drivers are WHQL certified and so they do not have support for the TNT. You will need to use a different driver.

pidge,

I've got a TNT 1 in another computer. Any reason why these don't work? I thought Nvidia had unified drivers. Isn't WHQL just a MS certification?

dont use the 12.x's they arent for TNT. its for p4's..

besides, its not like ur going to get a BIG performance increase... just.. use default drivers from the manufac. site.
