Hi ok.. this may seem a slightly weird, and somewhat unethical seeming request, however it is critical to me ;). Heres the deal...

I am in UK and due to go back to school tomorrow (4th jan), but i NEED to be at home tomorrow, otherwise i will lose about £600 (i wont go into why!).
My school website is at www.wardenpark.co.uk, i want to make it so that when i go to (the site's term calender, i want it to instead request this slightly edited version :p.
how would i go about this? and please, i know it is morally wrong, but it is very necessary, thankyou!

So you are assuming by canging the date on the calendar, the school will magically expect everyone back on Wednesday?

Obviously you are not a hacker (neither am I), so I doubt you can get very far. You will need to get into the colleges server and switch the files, and there are bound to be some passwords you need.

Assuming it is a valid reason, can't you contact the college and explain what is going on? I'm sure they will let you miss the first day if it is truely important... If it isn't a valid reason, you could always lie (Don't tell them that you need to be home to make a huge drug sale or whatever the hell you are doing).

I am guessing he wants his parents or somebody to see that so he can say "No, school doesn't start today, its tomorrow"

Oh I see...

Open that page up and THEN type in the URL in address and show to parents

(ex. Page is C:\\Bblablablabla\Blablabllba\index.htm)

Open that in IE

Manually change address to site's URL.

DONE :p

no no no. Not that one.

The file that tells your computer where to look for stuff on the internet (a local DNS)

I'd tell you more, but I honestly don't think it will help you.

*edit*

Oh? Just save the web site\page to your hard drive and open it from there :p

ya i have done :/, but it is a bit risky, i mean, my dad will probably visit the website himself later to check, also i googled local dns, but most of it seemed to be unix stuff, im running XP.. how would i tell xp to request my fake url when a user requests the real one?

thanks again

Ahhh... I get it... Just do what the others have suggested. Open your file, but type the school URL in the address bar.

If you actually are going to have to navigate to it in front of your parents, it is a bit more difficult. Maybe you could register a domain with a VERY similar URL (www.walderpark.co.uk) and put all the university pages on it with your updated page... That would take some money (and a credit card) and quite a bit of time, though.
