Urgent PDA suggestion required

Hi, I have had a Sony Clie PEG-S300 for nearly a year now and there has been nothign but problems, any PC I use it justd oesnt seem to want to work with. Anyway, does anyone have any suggestion of what else to use with XP Pro specifically? I thought about Handspring but was put off by the fact that they use Palm tbh.

What are the HP ones like?

i like the Windows CE devices. I never really took the time to learn Palm, despite it's ease of use. Maybe it's your Sony that's the problem, not the Palm software.

Yeah I know its probably the Sony...specifically Sony's idea of how USB should synchronise, but I just can't stick it anymore, in fact I don't think I will get a replacement...will wait for the cash for a laptop.

unless there is a probelm with your unit, it should work fine. Maul has a either the 300 or the 320, I don't remember and it works fine. I used the 7 series drivers for XP.

I have a Clie 415 that I sync here and at work, and its never been an issue either.

The HP PocketPC devices are being phased out. This is because of the merger with Compaq, the iPaqs won out.

If you are sold on PocketPC, look at the Toshiba models. The e310 is a small light unit, nothing like the iPaq and the Hornada.

Well if I can get my Clie to work I will use it, but I have tried everything I know of and still it won't sync. The closest I have had is that it syncs, then after a restart won't sync. If you or Maul have any information I'd grealty appreciate it.

install the sony Palm desktop for the 7 series sony units. Thats what worked here.

Weird, now it is hotsyncing fine after reinstalling the Palm Desktop software about a million times, well thats one problem out of the way (hopefully).

Have you kept your drivers up to date? PEG S300 updates

Yes I have the most up-to-date drivers. I have installed the Palm Desktop 4.01 software. Well, it did work, but now doesnt again, and I get this message from the XP hardware installer in the system tray :

'USB Device Not Recognised'.

I click on the bubble, and it has a diagram of a USB tree, with Unknown Device on it. I double click on it, and try to install the driver Sony provide, and it says that the driver isn't suitable for the hardware.....

I mentioned it, but you haven't said anything about it, the 7xx driver package... it works.
