Well, sorta. I've been using the Administrator account ever since i installed Win XP Pro. Someone said i shouldn't... should have listened. Anyway, i just got my home network going, and part of that was creating a new user (first ever since Administrator) so that i could share files with the other machine. Well all that worked great, but when i restarted this PC, all i saw was that account i created for my parents. No option to log in as Administrator! Went to control panel/accounts, and nothing there either - just this one account. And here's where it gets fun - i didn't actually enable any sharing yet. Yep. I have NO ACCESS TO ANYTHING. Can't access a single file on any drive. And best of all, i use my PC for just about everything. So now i'm locked out of TV, DVD, games, music and porn. Ok so what the hell do i do? :(

Update: Alright, i just realised that i gave my parents admin so i created another account for myself and granted myself access to drive C. For some reason, that only affected windows directories (program files, etc) but nothing that i created myself. Tried selecting other dirs and editing, but it says i don't have permission to view/edit security settings for them. So far, i got TV back :D

okay.. so if i get this right-- you should be able to log on as your parents..

then under the start menu, you should be able to go to shut down, and choose 'log off'.. this should bring you back to the login screen...

just type in Administrator and whatever password you had, and you should be able to get back in.

or am i missing something, and my lack of sleep is causing me to think your problem is something different than it acutally is?

Type in Administrator? Where? This is Windows XP, all i get is a screen with a list of users. All i can do is click on them. Administrator is no longer on that list. Now if i could change it to Win 2000-style logon. I think there's a way?

did you try ctr-alt-delete (twice I think?) at the log-in screen? does the win 2000 window I believe. Havent used W2K but have brought up the login window that way

If you want the win2k style of logging in from now on, just go to: control panel, user accounts, change the way users log on or off, and get rid of "Use welcome screen". That will dump you back to the old win2k style login each time.
