I have to have a comp built for somebody very soon, and I just got a call today from the place I ordered the AX-7 heatsink from and they were out of stock..I couldn't find another place with both an AX-7 and an alpha 8942T, so I just ordered the 8942T and an SK-7 from this place. I need to cool an xp1900+ and I have a PCP&C silencer (27CFM) fan. I've used this same setup before with an AX-7 and the temps are fine. I'm just wondering if the SK-7, being all copper will do as well as the AX-7 with such a low cfm fan?
I need to know before tomorrow morning so I can cancel the order if need be.

thank you!

from what i have read the sk7 and other sk's are better w/ HIGH cfm fans then the ax7, but the ax7 are slightly better w/ lower cfm. hope this helps.

it definitely likes a higher cfm fan. i have a smartfan on it and its running at a pretty low rpm. case temp high/low is 30/27 and cpu high/low is 54/44. i'd like a lower idle so i might switch out fans (especially since i plan to overclock). it also didnt make a bit of difference to have the fan blowing down or as exhaust. same exact temps. might be a different story for a higher cfm tho.

I have a zalman 3000rpm 39 cfm fan on my SK7. My idle temps on an XP1600 OC'd to 1.75 ghz is 38 C. Not too bad I guess.

I don't know about the SK7 but I had a SK6 and an 80mm panaflo on my 1600+ @ 1800+ and a GC68 outperformed it by 10C+. I'm sure with a higher CFM fan it would have done better, but I wasn't pleased with it so I sold it. It did fine when I had it on a 1ghz Tbird.
