Yes there are no hole for the pushpins on a Radeon 8500 so you have to use an adhesive to attach it. The packet that comes with the CRorb is simple thermal grease that is to be use only in conjuction with the push-pins. It has zero adhesive qualities to it, and is not meant to hold it on.

That is why they give you double-sided fragtape (3M tape) .... for in case you can't use the pins. If I were you, I would clean everything off the gpu and orb, then use the adhesive tape to hold it for now. Then you can go ahead and get some Artic silver epoxy adhesive or artic alumina online ... try here ---->

You really think double sided tape will hold it? Ok well if it wont, I was thinking of getting some Artic Alumina at a local PC shop. Once I get it, do I just cover the GPU with this after its been well cleaned, and then just stick the CRORB on top of this? How long will it take for a permanent bond to form, where it will not fall? Thanks. Also, is it possible to use my video card in my PC without the stock HS for like 1 hour? I really need to do something and cant wait?

well the double sided tape will hold it ...that tape is fairly strong, but I think for the long run you should consider using that artic alumina. Maybe do this for now .... use the double sided tape to re-attach the stock cooler that came with the card (it will DEFINITELY hold that on) since it is much lighter weight.

Then in the meantime you can try and find some artic alumina. I doubt you are going to find it any cheaper than the link I provided for 2cooltek ...plus he takes PayPal. Also, I just can't imagine most local PC shops stocking something like that. As far as running the Radeon 8500 without any cooling ... not sure if I would risk it. I guess if you mean just to surf or check e-mail or something it shouldn't get too hot, just don't fire up any 3D games.

As far as how to use it here are the directions ---> Click Me
