Hello today I recieved my chrome orb I had ordered. Before I had a collermaster which kept it at a steady 56c I put on the orb hoping to get in the 40's and I go to the asus probe program and see its 78c I shutdown right away. I made sure it was seated good and firm. I don't why it did this. PLEASE HELP!

Currently my golden orb has my 700 @ 900Mhz running at 35c idle/39c stressed. Your fan is probably not making good contact with the die. I added Arctic Silver thermal past to lower the temps 3-5c over the old temps. It is important that you remove the motherboard from the case before you install the HSF. Held up to the light you will be able to see if the HSF is sitting flat on the die.

I received two chrome orbs after I wrote the president about the Golden Orb cracking the epoxy from around the die, but it still works. The first one had little feet that fit on each side of the die facing the clips. The second now has the feet removed and the bottom is now square and lays on the rubber feet on the chip itself. I hadn't received the first one when I wrote him again about not receiving it yet, thus may have prompted the shipment of the second. I just received today and I'll be replacing today.

Sorry to here about the cracked thunderbird. I doubt they'll do anything except send you a revised Orb. Here's the scoop. I went to www.Thermaltake.com and clicked on company info and wallah.

USA: 377 South Lemon Ave., #A, Walnut, CA 91789
TEL: (909) 598-0098 FAX: (909) 598-3036
E-MAIL: davidh@thermaltake.com

Here's the info anyways copied from the site. I beleive his name is David Huang. All I told him that I heard crackling when I first put on the Heatsink/fan and I heard they made a new chrome orb with a revised clip. I'm going to put the new one now. Wish me luck.

I emailed them. I hope you haven't wrote him three times already though. You're trying to get a free chrome orb not piss him off. Give him time. Like I said it was two weeks before he returned my email.

Well for my first 2 attempts I sent emails to their general email address(thermaltake@thermaltake.com or something to that effect). After no responses for over a month, I decided to try the address you gave me yesterday. Still no reply....

Oh well, I guess thats how the cookie (or TBird) crumbles....
