I have a viewsonic 2245wm monitor. This minotor comes with a base that has speakers, some usb ports, and a mic.
suddenly afew days ago, My monitor was not showing anything on the screen. A blue light (indicating that it is recieving signel and information was on, but monitor was not showing anything).
at first I thought it was my video card, so I changed computers and teh same thing happened.
finally, I used my laptop and connected it to the monitor. the monitor was detected by my laptop and can be used as a part of a dual monitor with my laptop.. It works fine with my laptop (only after it has been told to "extent screen" on windows 7 on my laptop)
after this, when I connect my vga cable back to my desktop tower computer, it works for a while. after afew restarts, the monitor stops working again and the same thing happens. Its all black.. to get it to work again, I have to connect to my laptop and tell it to be used and than take the vga out and put it back on the tower desktop..
does anyone know why this kind of a problem happens? I need help quickly because My father needs to do some work on the computer and if its not fixed, by today, he will just buy a new one.. (fixing would be preferable to save money).. because technically the monitor is not broken.
also, forgot to mention, the monitor makes a high pitched sound when it is getting a signal from my computers or laptops.
anything to figure this problem out would be appreciated.
