URGENT HELP needed! How to conenct SATA?

i just got my rig, and this is the first time installing sata device.

there is a SATA data connector that came with mobo (Gigabyte DS3)
and the hard drive is Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 SATA2 OEM

i dont see 4 pin hole to connect power cord from power supply to hard drive
on IDE hard drives, there used to be one, but i dont see one here.
what do i do?

EDIT:::******MY PSU SEEMS TO BE DEAD*******

when i click power button, it starts working for 2 seconds, then stops working again, then starts working for 2 seconds, and stops again. all 3 fans (CPU+GFX+PSU) start and stop at the same time.

SATA drives have a different power connector than the standard 4-pin molex connector. Try searching your PSU plugs for a plug that fits. Did your drive come with a power cord adapter?

Thanks Fuzzy. I guess I won't be able to play my new rig today after all :'(

One quick question:

Is there difference between connecting power cable to hard drive straight from power supply versus via an adapter like you provided.

and 2nd thing:
where exactly do i plug in STA data cable?
here is pic of my motherboard:

you see 3 orange places? which one?

I totally feel your pain. About ten minutes ago I got a new 400GB SATA drive in the mail, and guess what? I DON'T HAVE A FRICKIN' SATA CABLE FOR IT. I have to now go order a stupid little SATA cable online for $5 and wait for it to come in, when it should have came with the frickin' drive itself. You know what I did get though? A SATA power adapter. Want it? I can mail it to you. Just paypal me the cost of postage.

There is no difference between connecting the power through an adapter versus not through an adapter.

Your mobo can support 6 SATA drives. I would plug it into the rightmost, bottom row plug.

oh god damn it
not this again

i think my power supply is DOA
When i turn it on, it starts rotating the fan very slowly, and then stops.. then again start rotating, and stop again.

do you think this could be due to incorrect plug inserted?
i didnt pay too much attention to the wires that come FROM THE FRONT OF CASE.
could they be responsible for POWER button not working correctly?

or should the machine at least show some lights?

Yes, i did make sure to insert the ATX 20+4 pin
and i also inserted the CPU fan cable
and i also inserted 4-pin cable from PSU to mobo jack named ATX_12V ..which is to my understanding is the power cable for CPU

Absolutely. The wire that comes from the front of the case that goes to the Power button was probably plugged in backwards on your mobo.

it actually boots up, rotates all the fans (CPU and GFX) and then stops, then again starts, and shuts down...each power up lasts around 2 seconds, then 2 second stop, then 2 second working again

Ok... that's weird.

What power supply? If it came with the case it may be a cheap PSU and you should buy a better quality one like an Antec, Fortron, Enermax, etc.

ye its a 450W power supply that came with the case
yes i know its bad to use stock PSU but i was over my budget
i thought: whats the harm in using stock PSU for 1 month, until i buy good brand like thermalstake
looks like i learned my lesson the hard way.

losers!
i called ncix.com and they say they can only give me $5 refund if i return this PS.
i said screw you, just send me another one so i can use it as backup
