I recntly moved into a new house and am trying to get DSL isntalled. I had Telocity at my old location and had no problems with the install/service etc sto I thought I'd use them at the new house also.

So I signed up, Ameritech supposidly came and did the outside wiring from the post to the box on the outside of the house. The next step was for the technician to come out and do the inside wiring from the box to the room/telco jack.

I requestd that Telcoty not send the technician (actually a sub-contract from northpoint) as it would be 2+ weeks before anybopdy could come out. I requested that I simply run my own internal wires (besides this is my NEW house and if anybody is goign to be drilling in it it's going to be ME). I've wired for everything before, even DSL at my old apt, but when I went to the outside box and opened it up, there was only 1 pair (ie: 2 wires) coming from the post to the box. shoudln't there be 2 pair (ie: 4 wires)? one pair for my 10-digit phone and anther pair of dry copper to be used for the DSL line?

Did Ameritch simply not install squat? Or do I use the same line?

help! Telocity is sending my modem and I need to get the wiring done!

TIA

Assuming that you have a phone in that room already, you're done. Just make sure to filter everything else :)
