So, I am currently hosting a LAN party (Actually it is a high school class based on computer gaming) and we're playing CS (Counter Strike). The server is up and running, all the clients can connect to it fine, except... There are some WinNT4 clients, a few XP Pro clients and 2 XP Home clients. The two clients running XP Home cannot see the server from within CS. They can ping the server just fine, but cant connect to the game. Ie. the server doesn't show up in their LAN server list.
I have tried reinstalling HL/CS many times... and I just now realized that it has got to have something to do with the OS, since both clients have the same exact symptoms and they're the only ones using XP Home. Is this something to do with the crippled network functionality of Home?
BTW, all the clients have static IPs on a closed network running through a gigabit ethernet switch.
Any advice or solutions to try would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
