firstly, i know this is the wrong forum, but i am in a big hurry.

i leave for a festival tomorrow and want to be able to taek pictures.

ok, here's the problem:

i bought a new CF card to upgrade the old 8mb one i had.

my gf used it before it was formatted, then tried formatting it but something went wrong

anyway, now that i have formatted it in the camera (hp photosmart 315) it shows up fine in the camera and takes pictures, the pictures are fully previable ect, but when i try to download the pics to my pc the fun starts.

i am using xp so when i insert the camera it is just added to "my computer" as "Removable Drive(F)".

this is the same as my old 8mb card but when i click to open the new "drive" windows reports that it is not formatted and asks me if i want to format it now.

i tried clicking no but if i do i can't access the drive, then i tried formatting it which succeeded and allowed me access to it.

then i disconnected the cam and turned it on with the newly formatted card in it.

the display then shows "000" and the lcd says "No Pictures in CF card or no CF card in camera".

i have tried formatting the card many times in both windows and the camera, so does this mean my card is fried?

is there any software or anything that can "repair" it.

i don't have a CF card reader so my only access is through the camera.

any help appreciated

I assume it says that AFTER you've taken some new pics? As in the camera isn't recording anything to the CF?

How big is your CF card? I think the HP 315 has a limit on the size of CF card it can handle... maybe yours is too big...

i get that sometimes. like if i format a card in my usb reader... if i stick the cf card into the camera, it will ask me to format it again. since it's just been freshly formatted on the pc... i just format it again in the camera.

but in ur case... looks like something if quirky with the card i suppose. i have no idea if a usb cf card reader will help u, but i think it's good to have... helps preserve battery (a little).

With the HP 315 camera, you cannot use a CF card size bigger than 32MB with WinXP... Here's the official HP document describing the problem:

Link

Looks like the only way to solve this problem is to get a CF card reader...
