URGENT! BIOS UPDATE ON A8N32 SLI M/B GONE BAD

Hi guys,

I set up my system and all was well, I tried to update the BIOS from 1009 to1103 with the DOS Afludos command but to no avail. I tried then the Windows based ASUS Update V6.10.02, All went well as program said all is fine and told to reboot. But then on reboot the computer did not boot. There was power but the monitor went dead. Tried switching off but to no avail or see if I can boot from floppy but nothing. What should I try? Where is the Crash free BIOS of Asus?

Thanks a lot

Kind regards

aack! aaaack! where is my crash free bios? where did it go???

The CrashFree BIOS2 feature now includes the BIOS auto-recovery function in a support CD. Users can reboot their system through the support CD when a bootable disk is not available and go through the simple BIOS auto-recovery process. ASUS motherboards now enable users to enjoy this protection feature without the need to pay for an optional ROM.

Did you clear the CMOS after the flash? Thats normaly a neccessity, so I would try that. Unplug the PC from the wall, press the power button to discharge any remaining power, remove the CMOS batter for 30 seconds, or put the clear CMOS jumper in the clear position for 30 seconds. Put the battery back in, or move the jumper back depending on which way you did it, plug back in, power back on.

Wait a minute before you panic...I had this happen to me yesterday with my asus premium..and to be honest I think this happens every once and awhile with these boards(any asus really, my asus a7v333 used to behave the same way occasionally). You are probably having a VGA initialization error....hook your speakers up to the MB audio out and you'll hear the post reporter say so (or 6 beeps). What I did was remove my vga card and did a few complete power cycles....then reseated my video card and it started up fine after awhile. I had my PCI sync set to auto...I changed it to 33.3..maybe the bios overclocked it without me knowing.

Asus boards can be funny sometimes...if something "strange" happens just be patient. I've even had them not power/boot up at all. But after a few power cycles all was fine.

hi guys,

Sorry for the delay in reply but my internet was down. Yu would not beleive it. I had dual channel ram and I had put next to each otehr A! and B1 position. that worked fine but with the new update all dual channel memory has to be in A! and A2 or B1 and B2 so all I dhad to do was to swtich the ram psition.

thanks to all guys for your help,
