Merry Christmas everyone....

hi.. has anyone tried this setup yet? a 440bx based motherboard with RIVA TNT2 Model M64 video card? my problem is when using the updated drivers from Nvidia (Detonator 23.xx something or even Detonator 11.xx) my windows wont start up. it locks up b4 loading my desktop.. when i go to safe mode, set my display to 16 colors with still the Detonator drivers installed, my comp would boot up normally except for that 16color display... when i set it to high color mode in any resolution, my problem comes back again... i think there is a compatibility isue between 440BX chipset and Nvidia drivers.. is there a fix for this????

... pls i need urgent resolution to this... i want to fix my system b4 Christmas comes.... :(:(:(

I have been running this exact setup for awhile now with no problems what so ever.

Sounds more like a problem with that card in particular. See if you can possibly get ahold of another M64, see if it works. If not, get a new card anyway. The M64 is some doodoo. ;)

just an update... ive tried the same motherboard but with another video card.. i used a much more older Nvidia Vanta 16MB... but the same problem arises.. when i testing d M64 in my AMD setup, it worked just fine.. so maybe theres a compatibility issue between the 440BX chipset and M64 or even Vanta... pls...

you could try increasing the AGP aperture size in bios!
could you give more system specs & what OS are you using?

I'm running a TNT2 Pro on a BX with no worrys, hard to believe its a compaibility problem... could be windows ya know. Using the newest detonator drivers withthat card is not really worth it anyway. The performance has maxed out for these cards ages ago... try an even older driver, but first UNINSTALL the current drivers!!

ive got a solution..(i think).. i have to install detonator 12.41, install NVMAX and set AGP to 1X instead of auto.. it loads fine with 3D but still im not able to use those updated drivers... but this is much okey than before...

thanks everyone...

Hmm, one thing no one mentioned is check and see if you need a new driver for your monitor. I installed a Radeon LE on a Dell using a 440 BX chipset, and I could not get it to boot into Windows at all except for in safemode, where I could change the colors like you described and boot in. Also like you, this would only happen with updated ATI drivers, not the fresh from the CD ones. Going to Dell' s website and downloading new drivers for the monitor fixed it right up.
